In Kursk, on the basis of Southwest State University (SWSU), the third All-Russian championship for solving engineering cases “SWSU Case Championship” was held. The event was attended by student teams from 17 universities from 14 regions of Russia. They presented their solutions to production problems prepared by representatives of large enterprises in Kursk.
The branch “Rosseti Centre Kurskenergo” acted as a partner of the championship. The power engineers became a part of the expert commission, prepared actual practical engineering tasks (cases) for the students in the section “Power Supply and Power Engineering”. The participants needed to develop proposals for the technical re-equipment of 10 kV overhead lines - the construction of a “smart grid” using distributed automation elements. The expert commission evaluated the compliance of the solutions with the given technical parameters, the choice of equipment, as well as the economic efficiency of the developed projects.
As a result, the winner of the championship in the section “Power Supply and Power Engineering” was the “FIXiki” team from the Stary Oskol Technological Institute named after A.A. Ugarov. The second and third places were taken by teams from the city of Stavropol “Smart Energy” and “NCFU ENERGY”, representing the North Caucasus Federal University. The winners and prize-winners of the championship received diplomas and valuable gifts from the organizers and partners.
“Today, the electric power industry needs young and talented personnel capable of generating promising ideas for promoting the industry. Such events help identify these guys, look at them in order to attract them to work at the enterprise in the future,” stressed Vladimir Voloshin, the head of the technological development department of Kurskenergo.
