Power engineers of IDGC of Centre and IDGC of Centre and Volga Region promptly eliminate consequences of bad weather

30 July 2017

On Sunday, 30 July, rain showers, thunderstorms and stormy wind caused power failures in several regions of the service area of both companies. In the service area of IDGC of Centre bad weather affected, in particular, the Kursk and Kostroma regions. The storm front affected regions of IDGC of Centre and Volga Region were the Ryazan, Vladimir and Kirov regions. The cause of power outages in most cases was the fall of trees and branches on power lines, as well as clogging and breakage of wires due to strong wind.

Both companies were ready for the bad weather. In the branches, where the weather deterioration was forecasted, special control over the operation of power facilities was established and first responding and repair personnel were mobilized. IDGC of Centre is operation the high availability mode in the following branches: Belgorodenergo, Bryanskenergo, Voronezhenergo, Lipetskenergo, Orelenergo, Tambovenergo. In the Kostromaenergo branch special operating mode was introduced. IDGC of Centre and Volga Region is operation the high availability mode in the following branches: Vladimirenergo, Ivenergo, Nizhnovenergo. In the branches: Ryazanenergo, Tulaenergo, Kirovenergo, special operating mode was introduced.

The measures taken have allowed to minimize the negative consequences. First responding crews immediately respond to emerging technological disruptions, promptly moving to a fault location site and proceeding to eliminate the effects of bad weather. When there are calls from consumers on a power failure, they are all processed promptly. Specialists of the companies make every effort to ensure uninterrupted power supply in all regions of the service area of IDGC of Centre and IDGC of Centre and Volga Region.

If necessary, 1,648 crews consisting of 8,380 people, including 90 crews of increased mobility, and 3,201 units of automotive and special equipment can be brought to liquidation of technological violations in all branches of IDGC of Centre. The branches of IDGC of Centre and Volga Region are ready to use in the elimination of emergency situations 1,169 crews consisting of 5,768 people, including 94 crews of increased mobility, and 1,947 vehicles.

Also at the disposal of the companies there are about one and a half thousand reserve sources of electricity supply with a total capacity of about 50 MW, which, if necessary, can be used for temporary power supply, primarily to socially important facilities of the regions.

The contact centre of IDGC of Centre receives round-the-clock calls from citizens. The single direct number of power engineers of IDGC of Centre is 8-800-50-50-115, IDGC of Centre and Volga Region - 8-800-100-33-00. All calls are toll-free.

In addition, the power engineers warn that after the atmospheric front passes through, wires of power lines may be damaged by trees falling under the pressure of strong wind. Not to have electric shock, it is necessary to remember: it is mortally dangerous to approach trees lying on wires (since they can remain energized), saggy or torn wires. If there is a broken wire on your path, do not approach it closer than 8 metres. If you are at a closer distance, walk away from the wire without taking your feet off the ground.
