27 April 2022

On 27 April, more than two hundred power engineers paid tribute to the industry veterans who fought on the fields of the Great Patriotic War. At the Memorial in the city of Tula, the audience laid flowers at the Eternal Flame and honoured the fallen heroes with a minute of silence. The guard of honour was carried by representatives of the Young Army.

The memorial complex is located in the southern part of Tula, where in 1941 the front line of defense of the city passed, which frustrated the plans of the Nazi troops to attack Moscow.

The central element of the complex is an obelisk 1,418 cm high (according to the number of days of the war), and its heart is the Eternal Flame, a particle of which was brought from Moscow from the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. The names of 18 Heroes of the Soviet Union and 41 full cavaliers of the Orders of Glory and the Patriotic War are immortalized on commemorative steles along the alley.

The scale of the Memorial reflects the contribution that the power engineers made to the Victory over the enemy, restoring the power grid system under the most difficult conditions, ensuring the work of defense enterprises and liberated settlements, showing dedication, courage and fortitude.

The solemn event was attended by Deputy General Directors - Directors of branches of Rosseti Centre and Rosseti Centre and Volga region, as well as teams of the VIII Open Hockey Tournament of the Companies, dedicated to the 77th anniversary of the Great Victory.

“We bow our heads to the memory of the heroes who died defending our country from fascism, we thank the living front-line soldiers, we pay tribute to those who forged victory in the rear and raised the country from ruins. The veterans are an example of resilience, willpower, determination. We look up to them both in work and in sports, we move forward, we achieve new victories, we do everything possible for the prosperity of our country, our Motherland,” stressed Igor Makovskiy, General Director of Rosseti Centre and Rosseti Centre and Volga region.
