The Moscow office of Rosseti Centre hosted the in-person regional stage of the Central Cluster for the “Case-R” Corporate Championship - an engineering case-solving competition organized by Rosseti’s Group.
Nine teams from Moscow, Yaroslavl, Smolensk, Belgorod, Tver and Voronezh competed for the top spot, representing Rosseti Centre, Rosseti Moscow Region, and the MES Centre branch of PJSC Rosseti.
Following the final presentations, the team “Yarenergo”, representing the branch of Rosseti Centre, PJSC - Yarenergo, took first place. The team “Light at the End of the Case” from the MES Centre branch of PJSC Rosseti secured second place, while “The Fifth Element”, representing PJSC Rosseti Moscow Region, took third.
The participants were tasked with designing a power supply system for a conceptual city named “Pobeda” (Victory). They had to strike a balance between reliability and cost-effectiveness, justify their proposed engineering solutions and incorporate modern technologies.
The young professionals presented their projects to an expert panel. A unique feature of this championship was the cross-evaluation process, where teams’ projects were assessed by experts from other clusters. This approach ensured an impartial perspective on the proposed solutions and a consistent evaluation standard based on established criteria.
The winner of this stage will represent the Central Cluster at the final competition in Moscow.
“In engineering challenges, there is rarely just one obvious solution: one must consider reliability, cost, technological capabilities, and the future development of the system. The ability to view a challenge in its entirety and justify one’s choices by weighing these various factors is a key component of professional expertise in the energy sector. The “Case-R” championship allows young professionals to test their approaches in practice, present their solutions to experts, and gain experience that will prove useful in their future work,” stressed Boris Ebzeev, General Director of Rosseti Centre, PJSC — the managing organization of Rosseti Centre and Volga region, PJSC.
