Igor Makovskiy congratulated Izhevsk Electric Grids on the centenary

15 April 2022

At the solemn meeting of staff of the Distribution Zone «Izhevsk Electric Grids», dedicated to the centenary of the division, a congratulatory address from Igor Makovskiy, General Director of Rosseti Centre, PJSC — the managing organization of Rosseti Centre and Volga region, PJSC, was presented to the Izhevsk power engineers by Director of the branch «Udmurtenergo» Andrey Malyshev.

Izhevsk Electric Grids take their origin from 1922, when a group of electricians was separated from the Izhevsk factory electrical workshops, which received the status of the city electrical department.

In the twenties, both the Izhevsk factories and the city were supplied with electricity from several stations that operated on steam and water turbines and internal combustion engines. The insignificant capacity of these power plants did not allow meeting the growing needs of the factories and urban infrastructure.

In 1926, a decision was made to build a power station on the territory of the factories, the production capacity of which was to satisfy both the needs of the growing industry and the needs of the city. The total length of grids from the new CHPP was 71.8 km, including overhead lines — 69.2 km, cable ones — 2.6 km.

Since 2019, Izhevsk Electric Grids have been operating as part of Udmurtenergo, a branch of Rosseti Centre and Volga region, PJSC. Today, the Distribution Zone «Izhevsk Electric Grids» of the branch «Udmurtenergo» provides power supply to enterprises, socially significant facilities and the population of the capital of the Udmurt Republic. The electric facilities of Izhevsk Electric Grids include more than 3,950 km of 0.4-10 kV power lines, including more than 2,600 km of cable lines, 1,109 distribution points and transformer substations. Dispatching is carried out by Russia’s first digital city dispatch centre.

At the end of 2021, the Distribution Zone «Izhevsk Electric Grids» took the first place in the rating of Distribution Zones of the branch «Udmurtenergo».

«On this wonderful day, I want to thank all the employees of Izhevsk Electric Grids for their professional approach to business, patience and dedication. Special thanks go to our veterans. It was you, dear veterans, who stood at the very beginning of the formation of the energy system of the Udmurt Republic, made an invaluable contribution to the future, passing on your knowledge and unique experience to young people,» stressed in his congratulations Igor Makovskiy, General Director of Rosseti Centre, PJSC — the managing organization of Rosseti Centre and Volga region, PJSC.

Gifts, flowers, certificates of honour and thanks from the branch were received by leaders of production — employees of the Distribution Zone «Izhevsk Electric Grids», as well as veterans of the enterprise invited to the solemn meeting.
