Heads of Rosseti’s Group of Companies, subsidiaries and branches from all over the country, as well as employees of the branch “Rosseti Centre - Tulenergo”, laid flowers at the country’s first Memorial to Heroes-Power Engineers in Tula

21 December 2020

The event with the participation of Tulenergo’s employees was timed to coincide with the Power Engineer’s Day and the 100th anniversary of the adoption of the State Plan for Electrification of Russia (GOELRO).

The ceremonial opening of the Memorial in September 2020 was timed to coincide with the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War and was held with the participation of Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Yury Borisov, Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Central Federal District Igor Shchegolev, Governor of the Tula Region Alexey Dyumin. The complex was erected on the initiative of the head of Rosseti Pavel Livinskiy on the site where during the war there were fierce battles for the arms capital of the country. A particle of the Eternal Flame was specially moved from the walls of the Kremlin in Moscow.

“The fate of power engineers is woven into the most glorious and tragic episodes in the history of our country. The implementation of the GOELRO Plan in the pre-war years gave impetus to the industry, which soon began to work, first of all, for the needs of the front. Our energy colleagues fought bravely on the front lines and worked with all dedication in the rear. They were one of the first to enter the liberated cities, restoring the infrastructure, laying the foundation for the revival of the economy,” stressed Pavel Livinskiy.
“Today, on the eve of the 100th anniversary of the adoption of the GOELRO plan and the Power Engineer’s Day, we pay tribute to the memory of the veterans who, with their work and courage, brought the days of the Great Victory closer. They fought on the front lines, provided power to defense enterprises, and restored the power grid facilities destroyed by the war so that it could work faster for the needs of the front. We work in regions where the outcome of the war was largely decided. Tula is one of them. And we are proud that it is here that the feat of the industry’s workers is immortalized,” stressed Igor Makovskiy, General Director of Rosseti Centre and Rosseti Centre and Volga Region.
