Rosseti Centre and the Government of the Tver Region develop a digital radio communication project

3 December 2020

By the end of 2020, on the territory of the Tver region, the first stage of the implementation of digital radio communications will be completed to control forces and means of first responding crews of emergency rescue and life-support structures and departments of the region. The project is being implemented by the Tver branch of the Rosseti Centre company to increase the efficiency of work the of crews to eliminate technological violations in hard-to-reach areas of the region. The progress of its implementation was discussed at a working meeting by Governor of the Tver Region Igor Rudenya and General Director of Rosseti Centre Igor Makovskiy.

The new radio communication system uses the DMR (Digital Mobile Radio) standard and domestic software. The advantage of this technology is that it allows tracking the movement of crews, provides departmental communications independent of cellular operators, coverage in hard-to-reach places in the region and tracking the location of forces and means, which capabilities are not available in mobile communications in emergency situations. For the company, this significantly saves time, effort and money to carry out work to maintain grids in proper condition.

By the end of December, 75 base stations (repeaters) will be put into operation in the Tver region, and 322 mobile and wearable radio stations will be replaced. The implementation of this project will provide coverage of more than 80% of the region’s territory with a digital radio communication network.

“The territory of the Tver region is distinguished by forest cover and an abundance of swamps, while Tverenergo is the largest branch of the Rosseti Centre company in terms of the length of power lines. The combination of these circumstances and the need to ensure maximum reliability of power supply to residents of the Upper Volga Region requires us to use the most modern technologies that meet the requirements of the time. Digital radio communication systems transmit speech without noise even in conditions of a high level of interference and can be used to organize collaboration. This makes it possible to carry out efficient dispatch control both in the course of current activities and during the period of emergency recovery work,” stressed Igor Makovskiy, General Director of Rosseti Centre.
“Our task is to increase the stability of power supply to the territory of the Upper Volga Region, to minimize the number of outages and voltage drops, and to reduce the time for eliminating failures. Every inhabitant of the region should feel these positive changes,” stressed Governor of the Tver Region Igor Rudenya.
