Igor Makovskiy: more than 135 thousand smart energy metering devices will be installed by Rosseti Centre and Rosseti Centre and Volga Region in 20 regions of the country during the year

1 June 2020

As part of the implementation of the digital transformation concept, Rosseti Centre and Rosseti Centre and Volga Region continue to equip the regions of their operational responsibility (20 constituent entities of the Russian Federation) with intelligent (smart) electricity meters.

Since the beginning of 2020, power engineers have installed a total of more than 35 thousand such devices. The largest number of “smart” electric meters appeared in the Kaluga region (over 15 thousand), Tver and Kursk regions (more than eight thousand and over four thousand, respectively), Bryansk and Vladimir regions (more than two thousand meters in each of the regions). For electricity consumers, smart electricity meters are installed for free. All expenses for the maintenance, operation, verification and repair of smart electricity metering devices are borne by grid companies.

The installation of smart electricity metering devices allows not only to improve the quality and accuracy of electricity metering, but also to quickly identify centres of its losses and provide intelligent energy management. When using them, the consumer gets a free opportunity to remotely and at any time receive information on the energy consumption schedule and its volume and based on these data to optimize its load. As a result, thanks to this effect, as well as the transition to multi-tariff energy metering, it will be able to save on fees for consumed electricity.

“Modernization of electricity metering systems and electric grid equipment is an important component of digital transformation. With its help, we successfully solve the problems of reducing the level of commercial losses, increasing the efficiency of the grid complex, significantly improving the quality and reliability of power supply to consumers in 20 regions of the country,” emphasized General Director of Rosseti Centre - the managing organization of Rosseti Centre and Volga Region Igor Makovskiy.

In total, during 2020, Rosseti Centre and Rosseti Centre and Volga Region plan to install more than 135 thousand smart electricity meters in their regions of operation. The largest scope of work will be performed in the Kirov and Nizhny Novgorod regions, where more than 24 thousand and 16 thousand “smart” meters will be installed, respectively. And also, in the Tver, Belgorod and Voronezh regions, where they install over 14 thousand, 10 thousand and 9 thousand of smart energy metering devices.
