Igor Makovskiy checked the operation of the power grid complex of the Belgorod region during the period of an adverse epidemiological situation

17 April 2020

General Director of Rosseti Centre - the managing organization of Rosseti Centre and Volga Region, Igor Makovskiy, paid a working visit to the Belgorod branch of the company, where he inspected the functioning of the region’s grid complex under high-availability conditions and familiarized himself with the implementation of digital transformation projects.

In particular, Igor Makovskiy visited the first digital Distribution Zone of Belgorodenergo - the Borisovsky Distribution Zone, where in 2019 a fundamentally new, digital, remote control system for the 0.4-10 kV grid was created with the capability to continuously monitor transmission and consumption parameters of electricity. To do this, on 13 long lines of 10 kV supplying socially significant facilities, the power engineers installed 16 reclosers, 34 short circuit indicators, 26 sets of disconnectors with motor drives. 100 percent of transformer substations were equipped with an integrated energy monitoring system with telemetry devices providing voltage control on the 0.4 kV outgoing lines, and smart metering devices were installed at all substations with the capability to remotely take readings and automatically balance electricity supply and consumption. The project “Digital Electrician”, the equipment of the vehicle fleet with the GLONASS system, the projects for installing high-voltage points for commercial metering, the transition to digital radio communications and several others are integrated into the “Digital Distribution Zone”.

During the visit, Igor Makovskiy analyzed the construction progress of Belgorodenergo’s Unified Grid Control Centre (UGCC), which will cover the management of the 35-110 kV grid and distribution facilities in 18 districts of the region. For the first time in the history of the power system, the power engineers will be able to manage electric grids and control power supply to consumers from a single control room. The UGCC will be located on the territory of the repair and production base of the Belgorod Electric Grids. Commissioning of the new facility is expected in December this year.

“The implementation of digital equipment, the creation of the digital Distribution Zone, the construction of the Unified Grid Control Centre will significantly improve the reliability of power supply to consumers in the Belgorod region. The new facilities will make it possible to work not to eliminate contingencies, but to prevent technological violations, improve the quality of electricity supplied to consumers,” stressed Igor Makovskiy.

In addition, during a visit to Borisovka, Igor Makovskiy took part in laying wreaths at the monument to the heroes of World War II in the Military Glory Park of the Borisovsky district. In memory of the tankers who fought and died here in 1943 of the 1st battalion of the 56th separate tank brigade named after the Chelyabinsk Komsomol, the head of Rosseti Centre together with volunteers of the Belgorod branch planted trees as a symbol of valour, courage and glory of the Soviet soldiers who liberated the country from the fascist threat.
