Andrey Mayorov held a field meeting in the Tver region of the operational Headquarters of Rosseti on issues of accelerated restoration of the region’s electric grid complex after natural disasters

31 October 2019

Andrey Mayorov, Deputy Director General - Chief Engineer of Rosseti’s Group of Companies, in the morning, 31 October, inspected the progress of emergency recovery work in the region’s electric grid complex and held a field meeting of the operational Headquarters, where he listened to reports of heads of production subdivisions and gave a number of orders aimed at increasing efficiency and effectiveness of eliminating technological disruptions in grids.

Andrey Mayorov assessed the effectiveness of the distribution of forces and means in accordance with the degree and nature of technological violations.

In particular, he ordered regrouping of crews of power engineers participating in the restoration work to promptly strengthen the areas where there is still the largest scope of work. Chief Engineer of Rosseti also detailed the schedule of their rotation at facilities and made adjustments to the travel routes that would allow them to arrive at their new destination as soon as possible. Andrey Mayorov noted the need for personal presence and work of managers of Distribution Zone in the field, and also instructed to work out in detail the nature of defects and damage on each of the affected feeders.

“Our task is to restore power supply through the main grid as quickly as possible. I also ask that special attention be paid to the reliability of power supply to socially significant facilities,” emphasized Andrey Mayorov.

At the end of the meeting of the Headquarters, Chief Engineer of Rosseti plans to make an inspection of the most difficult sections.

Please, be reminded that on the night of 30 October, the Tver region was covered by a new powerful atmospheric front in the form of wet snow and a squally gusty wind. The situation was complicated by the transition of temperature from plus to minus values, which provoked snow sticking to wires and their subsequent breaks. The power engineers of Rosseti, who had been working around the clock for two days before that, were ready to face the bad weather and immediately started emergency repairs. Rounds and inspections of power lines were made, damaged sections were identified and repairs were immediately started. The Headquarters of the electric grid complex continued to operate in a special mode, monitoring the meteorological situation.

All last night, despite the dark night, poor visibility, difficult weather conditions and a significant number of technological disruptions in hard-to-reach wetlands, the power engineers of the company Rosseti continued the restoration work. An additional reinforcement of the grouping was carried out. At present, 344 crews of 1,417 people, over 400 automobile and specialized vehicles and 79 reserve sources of power supply with a total capacity of 5.955 MW are involved in the work. According to the latest operational data, 9,190 residents remain in the disconnection zone. However, thanks to the clear, well-coordinated and selfless work of Rosseti’s specialists who have been working round the clock for three days, replacing each other, despite the gale-force wind, snow and rain, these indicators are rapidly decreasing. The recovery work will continue uninterrupted, until the complete restoration of power supply to consumers.
