Rosseti Centre and Rosseti Centre and Volga Region continue the implementation of the program for removal of energy facilities from territories of children’s institutions

As part of the program to reduce the risk of injuries to third parties at power facilities, Rosseti Centre and Rosseti Centre and Volga Region continue to remove overhead lines and transformer substations from territories of children’s institutions. By September 2019, work was completed on the territories of 70 schools, preschool institutions, technical schools, orphanages, playgrounds and sports grounds, health camps. The costs of the companies amounted to over 18 million rubles.

During the implementation of the Program, the power engineers transfer overhead power lines that pass near educational institutions, sports facilities and playgrounds outside their territories, sections of overhead lines are converted to cable lines in a trench, and in areas where it is not possible to remove low-voltage overhead lines, the power engineers replace wire to a more modern and safe - self-supporting insulated wire SIW. In total, according to the results of 8 months of 2019, 70 overhead power lines were transferred outside the territories of schools and kindergartens of the energy companies, the total length of the reconstructed sections of overhead lines was 14.7 kilometres. By the end of this year, the power engineers plan to carry out the removal of energy facilities from the territories of another 97 children’s institutions.

The implementation of the program to transfer energy facilities from the territories of children’s institutions is part of the system work of Rosseti Centre and Rosseti Centre and Volga Region on the prevention of children’s electrical injuries. During the school holidays the power engineers, in addition to the work required by the standards, performed additional checks of locking devices of substations, installation of prohibition signs and information posters about the danger of electric shock. In addition, employees of the energy companies conduct active outreach on the prevention of electrical injuries with the population, primarily with children and adolescents, fishermen and owners of private households.
