IDGC of Centre estimates efficiency of new digital equipment in the Belgorod region

12 September 2018

IDGC of Centre - Belgorodenergo division began to implement a new project of digitalization of the electric grid. Specialists of the enterprise installed five sets of short-circuit indicators (fault locators) on a 10 kV overhead line of the 35 kV substation "Oktyabrskaya" in Belgorodsky district, designed to locate fault on the line caused by interphase short-circuit or single-phase ground fault. The new system has already passed tests.

The use of fault locators allows reducing the most significant component of the time to eliminate a stable fault - the period of its location, which in some cases reaches several hours. If the fault is detected, the system promptly transmits information about the location of the grid fault to the data collection server, which is then transmitted into the quick-response and information centre of operators of Belgorodsky Distribution Zone. The result of this is an increase in the speed of taking measures to isolate technological violations and a significant increase in the reliability of electricity supply to consumers.

The system was tested by specialists under voltage in the operating mode of the 10 kV grid with single-phase earth fault and under load. As a result, the high efficiency of the new equipment was noted when registering changes in grid parameters and determining the faulty section. After the completion of the data collection server software set-up, the system will be put into commercial operation.
