Employees and veterans of the Kursk branch of IDGC of Centre took part in commemorative events dedicated to the Battle of Kursk

Employees and veterans of IDGC of Centre - Kurskenergo division took part in festive and commemorative events dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the victorious end of the Battle of Kursk - one of the largest and most significant battles of the Great Patriotic War. They passed in different parts of the Kursk region.

In Kursk, a delegation of employees and veterans of the enterprise, headed by Alexander Rudnevsky, Deputy General Director of IDGC of Centre - Kurskenergo division director, laid flowers at the monument to Stepan Perekalsky, Commander of the 1,089th Infantry Regiment, one of the liberators of the city. "We are indebted to those who not only gave us a peaceful life, but also gave us a lesson of real patriotism. This is an example for many generations of power engineers who honour the memory of the heroes of this war," stressed Alexander Rudnevsky.

In Medvensky district employees of Kurskenergo laid flowers at the monument to the legendary pilot, thrice Hero of the Soviet Union Ivan Kozhedub, in Belovsky district - to the monument to the Unknown Soldier. The participants of the events paid a minute of silence to the memory of the fallen heroes who defended the Kursk land from the German invaders.

On the eve of the celebrations the employees of the branch additionally cleaned up the territories of monuments and memorials. In Oktyabrsky district the power engineers repaired the lighting of the regional memorial to the Warriors who died in the Great Patriotic War, located in the village of Pryamitsyno.

The Battle of Kursk lasted 50 days, it is one of the key battles of the Second World Great Patriotic War in terms of its scale, involved forces and means, its results and military and political consequences. It involved about two million people, six thousand tanks, four thousand airplanes. As a result of the Battle of Kursk, the strategic initiative in the war finally passed to the Red Army.
