A joint anti-emergency training was held in the Gomel region for the companies of the electric grid complex of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus

10 August 2018

In Vetkovsky district of the Gomel region, an intergovernmental training was held for power engineers of the state production association "Belenergo" (it operates the power grid complex of the Republic of Belarus) and GC "Rosseti" (Russia).

Representatives of energy companies of "Belenergo", as well as the Belarusian enterprise "Vetkovsky Spetsleskhoz" and the Gomel regional department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations took part in it from the Belarusian side. The Group "Rosseti" was represented by a mobile crew of Mglinsky Distribution Zone of IDGC of Centre - Bryanskenergo division. The purpose of the training was the development of cooperation in the liquidation of mass outages of power grid facilities of distribution networks located on the border of two states.

According to the scenario, as a result of the disaster in the distribution networks in the territory of Vetkovsky district, massive outages were recorded. Emergency-recovery crews of the Gomel power engineers quickly began to eliminate technological violations. The next day, after assessing the situation, it was decided to seek help from colleagues from neighbouring regions of Belarus, as well as from Russia.

A crew of increased mobility of IDGC of Centre - Bryanskenergo division was sent to Vetkovsky district. Thanks to the highly professional coordinated actions of the power engineers of the two countries, the power supply of the region was promptly restored.

Interstate trainings for power engineers of Russia and Belarus have been held in this format since 2015. As practice shows, they are an effective platform for the development by experts of the two countries of a clear algorithm of joint actions to eliminate emergency situations. The result of this is the construction and testing of the interaction aimed at ensuring the stable operation of the adjacent power systems of the two states and reliable electricity supply to consumers regardless of the state in which they live. The past exercises once again demonstrated that the energy sector has no borders.
