Yarenergo develops infrastructure for electric vehicles

17 May 2018

IDGC of Centre - Yarenergo division, within the framework of the All-Russian program for developing the charging infrastructure for electric vehicles, approved by Rosseti, continues to create a platform for operation of environmentally friendly transport.

To develop the electric power infrastructure, since 2015, specialists of IDGC of Centre - Yarenergo division have installed charging stations for electric cars in the parking lot of the Aura shopping centre, in the parking lot near the St. George Hotel and near the Globus hypermarket. This year, a charging station was installed near the administrative building of the branch along Voinov Street. In 2018, the installation of a charging station in the city of Pereslavl is planned. This work is carried out, including within the issue of acquiring an electric bus for the implementation of a pilot project for the development of passenger electric transport, which is being worked out with the participation of the regional government and regional motor transport enterprises.

"The development of innovative technologies in the city of Yaroslavl, which is a historical and cultural centre, will not only improve the ecological situation, which is especially important for the busy central part of the city, but also to increase the tourist attractiveness of the region. Yarenergo is ready to continue developing the charging infrastructure in view of the statistics of sales of electric vehicles and city electric transport. The potential for the demand for electric transport will only grow with time," explained Anton Gerasimov, Deputy General Director of IDGC of Centre - Yarenergo division director.

For more than two years, IDGC of Centre - Yarenergo division, for its own needs, has been operating a hybrid electric vehicle Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. The hybrid electric vehicle is driven by two electric motors, for the recharging of the batteries of which the internal combustion engine is used directly. It is also possible to charge from an external power source - a special charging station or household outlet. According to the manufacturer, the Outlander PHEV can drive 52 km only with electricity and provide fuel consumption of 1.9 litres per 100 kilometres along with an economical mode of use and a fully charged battery, while discharging 44 g/km of CO2 into the atmosphere. For comparison, modern cars provide an emission level of 200-300 g/km of CO2. This type of car is very practical in operation, since 2015 it has been used for movement around the city of Yaroslavl and the Yaroslavl municipal district.
