Smolenskenergo’s power engineers put on high alert

Due to worsening of weather conditions in the Smolensk region, power engineers of IDGC of Centre - Smolenskenergo have been put on high alert mode, the control over the functioning of equipment and the efficiency of power facilities has been strengthened. According to weather forecasters in the evening of 2 August and during the night of 3 August, heavy thunderstorms are expected in the territory of the Smolensk region, intensification of the south-west wind by gusts up to 15 m/s, sometimes heavy rains.

162 crews and 180 vehicles, including specialized ones, are ready for prompt response. The crews are equipped with necessary tools, adaptations, overalls, prepared for round-the-clock operation in any conditions. Reserve sources of electricity are also at the disposal of Smolenskenergo, which can be used to supply electricity.

In order to inform the public about electricity supply issues, the 24-hour Contact Centre operates in the branch. To receive advice and answers to all questions that arise, consumers in the Smolensk region should contact 8-800-50-50-115 (free of charge).

Smolenskenergo warns: it is mortally dangerous to approach sagging or ragged wires. If there is a broken wire on your path, do not approach it closer than 8 metres. If you are at a closer distance - walk away from the wire without taking your feet off the ground.
