Smolensk power engineers of IDGC of Centre restore the power supply interrupted by bad weather

3 August 2017

The stormy front, which passed on 2 August in the evening over the Smolensk region, caused power supply interruptions in some districts. As of 12.00 p.m. on 3 August, Vyazemsky, Smolensky, Dukhovschinsky, Yartsevsky and Safonovsky districts suffered most from the bad weather.

Power engineers of IDGC of Centre – Smolenskenergo division promptly began to eliminate technological violations. In the districts where outages were of a local nature, they were eliminated as soon as possible. In Smolensk at present all consumers are fed.

Currently, the fault location and active restoration work continues in settlements of Viazemsky, Smolensky, Dukhovschinsky, Yartsevsky and Safonovsky districts, in the most affected sections of overhead lines, where there was a break in wires caused by excessive wind loads and trees falling from the boundaries of security zones of power lines.

32 crews are engaged in the restoration of power supply with the involvement of 32 vehicles. Social facilities that are in the interruption zone will be energized in the first place, including using temporary circuits. In the near future, temporary information centres (TICs) will start operating in the districts affected by the disaster, which will take calls from consumers.

If there are no worsening weather conditions, the power engineers plan to eliminate the damage caused by wind, rain, thunderstorms and restore electricity to previously de-energized consumers in the shortest possible time.

Smolenskenergo has introduced a special mode of operation. The operational situation is under constant control. The crisis management centre for the elimination of technological violations is in cooperation with the territorial units of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the executive authorities in real time. In the production structures of the branch, organizational and technical activities have been carried out, the control over the operation of electrical installations has been strengthened, and the number of operating personnel has been increased. Crews from neighbouring districts will be sent to help colleagues.

To get information about the course of emergency repairs and the anticipated timing of power supply restoration in your locality, the region’s inhabitants can contact phones of Distribution Zones that can be found on the company’s official website or by the 24-hour Direct Line of Power Engineers at 8-800-50-50-115 (the call is toll-free).
