Dear parents! IDGC of Centre warns!

24 May 2017

According to statistics, the number of injuries among children and adolescents during the holidays increases significantly. The main reasons for the tragic events - mischievousness and ignorance of the rules of electrical safety. What do you remind the child of, letting him go for a walk?

1. Tell your child about the danger of running pyrotechnics under power lines. Careless actions in the security zone of lines and substations can lead to wire breakage and, as a result, to electric trauma.

2. It is dangerous for children to play near open transformer substations, it's even more dangerous to get inside! The equipment is under very high voltage.

3. Do not allow the child to unauthorizedly turn on the illuminations both in the street and in the house, and also touch the wires and lights of the light decoration, as the insulation of the wires will eventually lose its original properties. Do not disassemble the garland in the mains, pull or bend the wires, hide them behind metal pipes and radiators.

4. Do not touch the reinforced concrete poles of the power line, as in the event of a technical malfunction the facility may be under voltage.

5. You must not climb poles of power lines and the roof of garages with open wiring. It is forbidden to penetrate into the technical basements of residential buildings, where wires and communications pass. Do not open staircase switchboards and the input distribution boards in buildings.

6. Remember yourself and tell the children: it's dangerous for life to approach broken wires at a distance of more than 8-10 metres. A dangerous zone of "step voltage" arises around such a wire, it is necessary to leave it only by "goose" step.

7. It is deadly dangerous to do selfie near power facilities. It is strictly forbidden to climb poles of power lines, next to the electrical equipment to use a selfie stick. There is great risk to miscalculate the length of the monopod and get under high voltage, so electricity can kill even in the absence of direct contact of the human body with the wire. Raising the monopod above himself, the hunter for likes reduces the distance to the current-carrying elements of the power grid, exposing himself to mortal danger.

8. If there is a break in wires, sparking, damage to poles, insulators, unclosed or damaged doors of transformer substations or electrical panels, in order to avoid accidents, it is necessary to immediately report this by calling the Direct Line of power engineers at 8 800 50 50 115. The call is toll-free.

9. Signs or posters fixed on electrical installations warn of the danger of electric shock. Pay attention to the warning signs: "Stop! Voltage! Danger", "Danger! Keep out!". These are not simple words, but a warning about a real threat.
