IDGC of Centre – Kurskenergo division became a partner of the All-Russian Championship to resolve engineering cases SWSU Case Championship 2017, initiated by the Government of the Russian Federation with the aim of supporting promising young people, popularizing engineering, working professions. The final of the case-championship (section "Power supply and electric power industry") was held in Kursk on the site of South-Western State University (SWSU) with the support of large enterprises and the regional administration.
At the preliminary (distance) stage of the championship, 26 teams from 12 universities of different regions of Russia presented their decisions on production tasks proposed by Kursk partner enterprises. One of the assignments was developed by Kurskenergo’s long-term development and grid connection departments, according to which the students had to offer a circuit for electrification of a micro-district, select equipment, calculate operating modes taking into account categories of consumers, all in strict accordance with the company’s technical policy.
The expert commission assessed the compliance of solutions to specified technical parameters, equipment selection, technical and economic efficiency.
As a result, seven teams from Moscow, Tver, Kursk, Stary Oskol of the Belgorod region were selected for in-person presentation of the cases. They defended their projects to the commission, which included specialists from Kurskenergo and other leading enterprises of the region, representatives of the Centre for Innovation and Business Engineering, professors of the Power Supply Department at SWSU.
Finally, the team of SWSU "ReadyCase-One" won. The second and third places were taken by representatives of Tver State Technical University: the teams "Sistema" and "Power". Winners and prize-holders of the championship received diplomas and gifts from the organizers, as well as invitations to the internship.
