Power engineers of IDGC of Centre fully restored electricity supply in the Smolensk region

Emergency and restoration work on the core grid of IDGC of Centre - Smolenskenergo division was fully completed. According to First Deputy Director - Chief Engineer Nikolay Kireenko, as of 10:00 p.m. 22 June 2016 the electricity supply in the region has been restored. "Tomorrow we will perform work of clearing potentially dangerous trees. We ask the population to treat with understanding the short-term power outages. There will be also large work performed to replace damaged equipment and broken poles of power lines. First responding crews will once again perform necessary inspections of the lines to make sure that all the damage is eliminated. In this regard, the high alert mode will operate in the branch until tomorrow," stressed Nikolay Kireenko.

Please, be reminded that 21 June 2016 a storm warning was signalled in the Smolensk region. Thunderstorms came from the west, with increasing southern wind quarter, gusts up to 12-17 m/s. In most districts of the region there was deterioration of weather conditions - passing storm fronts, accompanied by rain and gusty winds. Bad weather led to shortages of electricity supply in some districts of the Smolensk region. The power company immediately started to eliminate the consequences of the natural disaster. 162 crews (486 people) and 180 units of equipment (including special) of IDGC of Centre were involved in emergency and restoration operations. Firstly electricity was supplied to socially important facilities. Thanks to the professional work of the branch crews, coordinated actions of technicians, the power supply to consumers in all bad weather affected districts of the region was restored within the minimum period of time.
