IDGC of Centre upgrades grids in settlements of the Belgorod region

21 September 2015

On the eve of the autumn-winter peak loads IDGC of Centre increased the reliability of electricity supply of the city of Belgorod and 34 settlements in the region. 525 million rubles of investment funds were spent on measures for the modernization of old and time-expired grids.

Complex reconstruction covered grids located in 12 municipal districts of the Belgorod region, and a number of streets of two largest cities in the region - Belgorod and Stary Oskol.

Power lines, constructed 25-30 years ago, are unistalled by power engineers of IDGC of Centre and then practically constructed again. At the same time they reviewing power supply circuits, eliminate all violations of security zones of power lines, and replace outdated, overloaded equipment with new one.

By the onset of cold weather in the region thus 221 km of power lines were reconstructed and 70 modern transformer substations were installed. Firstly those grids are reconstructed that feed socially significant and critical infrastructure. Thus, in the town of Stroitel of Yakovlevsky district equipment of a 6 kV overhead power line was upgraded, which feed water supply facilities.

To date, the reconstruction is almost or fully completed in settlements of Yakovlevsky, Krasnogvardeisky, Novooskolsky, Volokonovsky, Valuysky, Krasnensky and Alekseevsky districts. A big work was done to unbundle long lines in Stary Oskol, the work is coming to an end in Gubkinsky and Ivnyansky districts. In the regional centre 19 kilometers of cable grids were re-laid. In addition to the lines and substations in settlements contemporary outdoor lighting systems and energy-saving lamps are installed, lead-ins in households are changed, electricity metering devices are installed on facades.

To ensure uninterrupted supply of electricity to customers remote from the core grid, pole-mounted transformer substation are used - a product of R&D of IDGC of Centre, patented and actively applied in the branches for reconstruction of 0.4-10 kV grids and connecting small farmers or individuals with relatively low load.

Every year the program of reconstruction of old and time-expired grids only in Belgorod region includes 30-35 settlements, up to 300 km of power lines and over 80 transformer substations are reconstructed. For five years in the Belgorod region some 2,000 km in 150 small farm yards and villages were upgraded. As practice shows, the number of power outages after this work is reduced to a minimum, which is especially important during the period of operation through low temperatures.
