Specialists of IDGC of Centre install "smart" equipment at power facilities

20 November 2013

IDGC of Centre — Voronezhenergo division has completed work on the modernization of the collection and transmission of information with setting up digital communication channels in Substation 35/6 kV # 41. The project was implemented within the framework of the investment program of Voronezhenergo. Currently, the process of remote control installation has been completed at 90% of 35-110 kV substations of Voronezhenergo (264 of 294). In particular, 61 substations are equipped with a modern automated digital communication channels operating management system.

Substation # 41 is of great significance for the region. It provides electricity for intakes facilities of Pumping station # 11, which supplies drinking water to three large districts of Voronezh: Cominternovsky, Sovietsky and Leninsky, where more than a third of the total population of the regional centre resides — over 400,000 people. The Urban water utility, which owns Pumping station # 11 refers to category 1of power supply consumers. Accordingly, the reliability of electricity supply to consumers has special requirements. The transfer of Substation # 41 to digital communication provided all the conditions for this important facility of urban public infrastructure to comply with them in full.

«Substation # 41 has two innovative projects implemented: an automated system for supervisory control system (remote control system) was put into operation, and digital channels were set up,» explains the head of the service of Voronezhenergo Alexander Parkhomenko. «Smart, modern equipment allows in the online mode to monitor the state of the substation equipment, to remotely control switching devices and, if necessary, to quickly eliminate and prevent technological disturbances.»
