IDGC of Centre is for safe work

23 January 2013

From 22 to 24 January 2013 on the site of IDGC of Centre — Lipetskenergo division within the training of personnel to the repair campaign in 2013 is holding a review-competition of protective means, tools and accessories for safe work in electrical installations. As a training site for evaluating the quality and compliance with the specifications of the submitted samples the substation 110 kV “University” was selected.

The main goal of the review-competition, which is being held for the fifth time in IDGC of Centre, was the selection of the best samples of protective equipment and devices that can minimize the risks of injury and make the work of power engineers safe.

At this year’s competition products of 14 companies-producers were presented, many of which have been collaborating with power engineers of IDGC of Centre not for the first year. To participate the producers had to submit an appropriate application on the company’s website and their financial proposals through an open electronic marketplace B2B-Energo. An important condition of the competition is to provide samples of products that meet the requirements of the specification. The compliance with these requirements allows to achieve maximum openness and transparency in the organization and conducting the competition.

For an objective evaluation of the samples supplied the competition was held in two stages. At the first one protective means were assessed, which best of all met the requirements of safety and ease of use for staff. At the second stage winners will be determined out of the already approved suppliers, whose products meet the quality-price ratio.

To effectively select all the protective means and equipment were divided into 25 lots without indication of suppliers. A working group was evaluating the items, composed of department heads and experts of technical inspection of each branch of IDGC of Centre, representatives of production units of Lipetskenergo directly using the protective means at their work. The items included voltage meters; temporary grounding devices, including installed with earth; insulating rods; elevating devices; face, eye, respiratory and hearing protective means, LOTO and safety signs; voltage testers, and other personal protective equipment and supplies.

“The significance of these c review-competitions is evident. In the course of their holding, we work with manufacturers of protective equipment addressing identified observations and inconvenience of design. Suppliers rework such incompliance, and as a result every year protective equipment submitted to the competition, get improved, there are new modifications of them. Thus, IDGC of Centre plays an important role in improving the quality of products,”- stressed the head of the production control and safety Office of IDGC of Centre Elena Kalinina.

“The main criterion for the selection of products is invariably their reliability. This year, an important focus was not only the evaluation of technical characteristics, but also their certification and warranty,” — stressed the head of the production control and safety Office of Lipetskenergo Maxim Yashin.

As a result of the review-competition the commission will select the best products that meet the requirements of the company’s technical policy. The most reliable and convenient samples will be used in the performance of work in the branches of IDGC of Centre.
