Vasily Anokhin and Boris Ebzeev discussed the preparation of the Smolensk region’s electric grid complex for winter

16 September 2025

Smolensk Region Governor Vasily Anokhin and Boris Ebzeev, General Director of Rosseti Centre, PJSC - managing organization of Rosseti Centre and Volga region, PJSC, held a working meeting. The parties discussed issues related to ensuring reliable power supply and further development of the region’s electric grid complex.

Boris Ebzeev reported that the branch of the company Rosseti Centre - Smolenskenergo has completed all preparatory activities for the upcoming heating season. The planned work on major repairs of power lines and transformer substations has been completed in full, an emergency stock of equipment has been formed, and the procedure for interaction with government agencies and the Ministry of Emergency Situations during adverse weather conditions has been worked out.

Special attention at the meeting was paid to the development of the Program for Improving the Reliability of the Electric Grid Complex of the Smolensk Region for 2027-2030. Thus, it is planned to modernize key energy facilities, purchase equipment and special vehicles. The result of the implementation will be a decrease in the overall percentage of grid wear and tear and an improvement in the quality and reliability of electricity supply. If the Program is approved, more than RUB 10 billion will be attracted from the federal and regional budgets for the development of the region’s electric grid complex.

“It is especially important for the Smolensk region to ensure an uninterrupted heating season. We see that Rosseti Centre is fulfilling this task responsibly: the scope of repair work has been increased, and measures to prepare for bad weather are being strengthened. The joint program for the coming years will not only reduce the grid wear and tear, but also improve the quality of life of people and the sustainability of the region’s economy,” said Vasily Anokhin.

“The Smolenskenergo branch is fully prepared to operate in the autumn-winter peak load mode. All target indicators of the repair program have been fully met. At present, together with the regional government, we have intensified work on promising projects aimed at the systemic modernization of the grid complex. Our common goal is to create a modern and sustainable energy infrastructure that meets the needs of a dynamically developing region,” noted Boris Ebzeev.
