Igor Makovskiy: Rosseti Centre and Rosseti Centre and Volga Region in the first half of the year modernized more than 750 kilometres of power lines using SIW wire

2 September 2020

Specialists of Rosseti Centre and Rosseti Centre and Volga Region continue to implement measures in the regions of their operational responsibility (20 constituent entities of the Russian Federation) to replace 0.4-10 kV overhead power lines with bare wires with self-supporting insulated ones (SIW). The work is carried out within the framework of the program of technical re-equipment and reconstruction.

In the first half of the year, the power engineers of Rosseti Centre and Rosseti Centre and Volga Region replaced 763.9 kilometres of wires with self-supporting insulated ones, which is 100% of the plan. For these purposes, 663.3 million rubles were allocated. The largest scope of work was carried out in the branches of Bryanskenergo, Voronezhenergo, Kurskenergo, Vladimirenergo, Nizhnovenergo.

“We are systematically implementing at all levels proven technology solutions that improve the efficiency of operating activities and the reliability of the power grid complex. The use of self-supporting insulated wire leads to a significant degree in solving these problems, which are urgent for all power engineers,” stressed Igor Makovskiy, General Director of Rosseti Centre and Rosseti Centre and Volga Region.

The use of self-supporting insulated wire in 0.4-10 kV grids allows to reduce operating costs for line maintenance, decrease the number of technological violations associated with external impact on overhead lines, and prevents theft of electric energy.

All this ultimately contributes to an increase in the reliability of power supply to consumers. In addition, the use of self-supporting insulated wire reduces the incidence of electrical injuries and improves the overall aesthetic characteristics of electric grids.
