General Director of Rosseti Centre Igor Makovskiy inspected the progress of work at the “Sputnik” digital substation in Voronezh

10 July 2020

General Director of Rosseti Centre - the managing organization of Rosseti Centre and Volga Region, Igor Makovskiy, paid a working visit to the Voronezh branch of the company, where he examined preparations for commissioning of the new 110 kV “Sputnik” substation in Voronezh.

At the moment, the commissioning is underway at the site of the first digital substation in the region, constructed in the Comintern district of the city, landscaping and beautification are being completed.

The installed capacity of the new power centre will be 80 MVA. Thanks to the use of advanced digital technologies at the power facility, 100% observability and automatic intelligent control are provided. The observability of technological processes and the possibility of remote diagnostics and monitoring of the technical condition will reduce the operational costs of servicing the substation and ensure high reliability of all systems. All data on the substation operation parameters will go to the Grid Control Centre of the Voronezhenergo branch.

The commissioning of the substation, scheduled for August-September 2020, will be an important step towards the implementation of the Digital Transformation concept and will allow to improve the quality and reliability of energy supply to consumers in the capital of the Black Soil Region.

During a visit to the substation, Igor Makovskiy familiarized himself with the operation of the branch’s Security Management Centre, as well as the City Dispatch Point (CDP) of JSC “Voronezh City Electric Grids”, which has been working as part of Voronezhenergo’s Grid Control Centre (GCC) since June this year. For the first time in the history of the region’s energy system, the power engineers will be able to manage all levels of electric grids and control the power supply to consumers in the Voronezh region from a single control centre.

“The creation of such Grid Control Centre in the region will significantly improve the reliability of power supply to consumers in the Voronezh region. Its equipping with modern software systems makes it possible to work not to eliminate emergency situations, but to prevent technological violations, improve the quality of electricity supplied to consumers,” stressed Igor Makovskiy.
