Igor Makovskiy: the economic effect of reducing losses in Rosseti Centre and Rosseti Centre and Volga Region accounted for more than 180 million rubles since the beginning of the year

30 June 2020

Rosseti Centre and Rosseti Centre and Volga Region summed up the implementation of the Electricity Loss Reduction Program for 4 months of 2020. According to the results of this period, the loss level at Rosseti Centre was 11.49%, which is 0.52% lower than the final figures for 2019 under comparable conditions. At Rosseti Centre and Volga Region, the losses amounted to 8.47%, which is 0.22% lower than the final figures for 2019 under comparable conditions. As a result, the companies saved a total of 66.9 million kWh or 184 million rubles.

“Values of loss reduction are one of the main indicators of the efficiency of enterprises operating in the electric grid complex. They directly affect the results of operating, profuction and financial activities. Reliability and quality of power supply to consumers largely depend on them. We pay the most serious attention to this area, including as part of the implementation of the digital transformation program,” stressed Igor Makovskiy, General Director of Rosseti Centre - the managing organization of Rosseti Centre and Volga Region.

Rosseti Centre and Rosseti Centre and Volga Region, as part of the concept of digital transformation, are actively working to create an intelligent energy management system. In particular, they install smart electricity meters in regions of their operating responsibility. Since the beginning of 2020, a total of more than 35 thousand such devices have been installed by power engineers; in total, over 135 thousand will be installed by the end of the year. The use of intelligent metering devices allows not only to improve the quality and accuracy of electricity metering, but also to quickly identify and eliminate sources of losses, to minimize the possibility of external interference in the operation of devices for theft of energy resources. All this ultimately ensures the successful solution of tasks to reduce the level of commercial losses, increase the efficiency of the grid complex, and significantly improve the indicators of quality and reliability of power supply to consumers.
