Igor Makovskiy: Rosseti Centre and Rosseti Centre and Volga Region allocated about 15 million rubles from the beginning of the year to environmental activities

9 June 2020

Rosseti Centre and Rosseti Centre and Volga Region summed up the implementation of the Environmental Safety Program (hereinafter referred to as the Program) in the first quarter, aimed at implementing the Environmental Policy of the electric grid complex. Since the beginning of the year, power engineers have carried out more than 30 environmental protection measures in the regions of their activity (20 constituent entities of the Russian Federation). About 15 million rubles were allocated for these purposes.

Much attention is paid to ensuring the environmentally balanced development of the electric power industry. This is aimed, in particular, at technical measures to replace oil circuit breakers with vacuum and SF6 ones, which, unlike oil-filled equipment, are fireproof, have increased reliability and durability, and higher technical indicators.

At electric grid facilities of Rosseti Centre and Rosseti Centre and Volga Region, bare wire is being replaced by self-supporting insulated wire (SIW). In the first quarter, the power engineers replaced 445 kilometers of wire. This measure allows to reduce the clearing area of routes (it is done to prevent failures associated with falling of trees on power lines), as well as to protect birds from effects of electric current. Also, in the first quarter, the companies purchased more than 4 thousand special bird protection devices that are installed on poles of overhead lines to ensure the safety of wildlife during transmission of electricity, as well as to reduce the failure rate in the electric grid complex associated with the life of birds.

Work continued on monitoring the amount of pollutants at stationary sources of emissions and in the sanitary-protective zones of production sites, landscaping and greening of the enterprises. To protect and rationally use water resources, the specialists of branches of Rosseti Centre and Rosseti Centre and Volga Region regularly carried out instrumental quality control of extracted underground and waste waters.

“We consider the implementation of environmental protection measures not as part of the obligations imputed to us - for us it is primarily an important component of sustainability. Systematically working to minimize the negative impact of production processes on the environment, rationally using natural resources, strictly monitoring compliance with all norms and requirements in this area, we contribute to ensuring environmental safety in 20 regions of the country, improving the quality of the environment,” emphasized General Director of Rosseti Centre - the managing organization of Rosseti Centre and Volga Region Igor Makovskiy.

46 managers and specialists of Rosseti Centre and Rosseti Centre and Volga Region responsible for environmental protection have been trained since the beginning of the year on environmental safety programs, including during work in the field of hazardous waste management. Most of them, in connection with the complication of the epidemiological situation, received new knowledge remotely.

In total, during 2020, Rosseti Centre and Rosseti Centre and Volga Region plan to implement more than 50 environmental measures. Over 90 million rubles will be allocated for the implementation of the environmental safety program.
