Igor Makovskiy: Rosseti Centre and Rosseti Centre and Volga Region have saved more than 13 million kilowatt-hours of electricity since the beginning of the year

14 May 2020

Rosseti Centre and Rosseti Centre and Volga Region summed up the implementation of the Energy Saving and Energy Efficiency Program for the first quarter of 2020. The total effect of its implementation amounted to 13.2 million kWh. The branches of Smolenskenergo, Tverenergo, Kurskenergo, Nizhnovenergo, and Ryazanenergo demonstrated the greatest efficiency in the implementation of the Program.

“Energy conservation is an important component of work to reduce losses - one of our key priorities. We deal with these issues systematically, and the results achieved in this area significantly improve our overall efficiency in increasing the quality and reliability of power supply in 20 regions of the country. An additional vector to this work is given by the activities of digital transformation that we are implementing. Intelligent metering increases the accuracy and observability of indicators, and automation allows to get an additional effect. In addition, the implementation of energy-saving measures allows us to channel additional funds and resources for the development and modernization of the electric grid complex and the implementation of our plans for advanced digitalization,” stressed Igor Makovskiy, General Director of Rosseti Centre - the managing organization of Rosseti Centre and Volga Region.

The saving of 6.8 million kWh was ensured by the power engineers fulfilling the technical measures of the program: replacing wires on overloaded power lines with a larger cross-section and replacing wires of taps of overhead lines into residential buildings with self-supporting insulated wire (SIW).

A significant effect - 6.4 million kWh - was also obtained from the organizational measures of the Program, including shutdown of transformers in low-load conditions at substations with two or more transformers, shutdown of transformers with seasonal load, and also equalization of phase loads in distribution grids of 0.38 kV.

Measures to optimize the consumption of energy resources for utility needs brought a total saving of 529 tons of fuel equivalent.

The total expected effect of the implementation of energy-saving measures at Rosseti Centre and Rosseti Centre and Volga Region following the results of 2020, according to the plan, should be 61.1 million kWh, the effect of optimizing energy consumption for utility needs is 1,251 tons of fuel equivalent.
