In December 2019, the Gryazinsky city court of the Lipetsk region sentenced two violators of the Usmansky district for attempting to steal power equipment to 400 hours of correctional labour and fines of 10 and 15 thousand rubles. At the end of August this year, three residents of the Lipetsk region near the village of Knyazhya Baigora dismantled about six kilometres of wire from power lines belonging to the Lipetsk branch of Rosseti Centre. When trying to cut another piece, one of them received a fatal electric shock. The damage caused to Lipetskenergo amounted to more than 45 thousand rubles. In this case, the power engineers have already sent a statement to the police, a check is being conducted.
“Offenders endanger the reliability of the entire power grid complex. Due to their fault, bona fide residents and social infrastructure facilities may remain without power supply. Therefore, we, together with law enforcement agencies, are intensifying efforts to combat theft and protect electric grid infrastructure facilities in the Lipetsk region. Regular inspections of reception centres for non-ferrous metals, screening of vehicles is carried out, joint raids on power transmission lines are performed. And, as practice shows, the punishment for such violations is getting stricter,” stressed Konstantin Drachuk, Deputy General Director - Director of the branch of IDGC of Centre - Lipetskenergo.
