Igor Makovskiy: “We expand the work formats for prevention of children’s electrical injuries on the system level - and, as practice shows, this gives results”

19 November 2019

Rosseti Centre (IDGC of Centre, PJSC) and Rosseti Centre and Volga Region (IDGC of Centre and Volga Region, PJSC) continue large-scale work in the regions of their activity (20 constituent entities of the Russian Federation) to prevent children’s electrical injuries. One of its most effective areas is the electrical safety lessons that take place in educational institutions. Power engineers tell children and adolescents about the role of electricity in a person’s life, introduce them to the rules for using electrical appliances, explain the meaning of warning signs, and teach first-aid techniques to victims of electric currents.

Since the beginning of the new school year, the specialists of Rosseti Centre and Rosseti Centre and Volga Region have already held about a thousand classes on electrical safety, more than 35 thousand schoolchildren took part in them. The largest number of thematic lessons was organized by the branches of Smolenskenergo, Kostromaenergo, Nizhnovenergo and Kirovenergo.

For the organization of preventive work, the power engineers increasingly use original formats and new platforms. During the school holidays, the specialists of the branch “Rosseti Centre Kostromaenergo” spent the week of electrical safety in cultural institutions of the region, during which thematic cartoons were shown in cinemas, cultural centres, Palaces of Culture and libraries. In addition, Kostroma power engineers became co-organizers of a quiz held in the region’s schools on life safety issues.

A similar event in the framework of the “Electrical Safety Week” was held by their Yaroslavl colleagues. And on the first day of the new school year, they organized the “Lesson on Wheels” for leavers of a kindergarten of the city of Rybinsk. The unusual lesson was held in the “thematic” trolleybus running the second year along streets of the second largest settlement in the Yaroslavl region, on the sides of which there is information about the rules for safe handling of electric current.

Employees of the branch “Rosseti Centre Tverenergo” in mid-November chose the “MaxFit” sports complex in Tver as the venue for the master lesson. Their listeners were sports coaches and tutors of the “MaxFit” children’s health and fitness camp for a day’s stay, which works for children every school holiday.

“We expand the work formats for prevention of children’s electrical injuries on the system level - and, as practice shows, this gives results. Parents, teachers, specialized departments, local authorities are increasingly involved in this process, and the number of children attending our events steadily increases. This means that the culture of safe handling of electricity is becoming an integral part of the life of our society,” stressed Igor Makovskiy, General Director of IDGC of Centre - the managing organization of IDGC of Centre and Volga Region.

Until the end of 2019, the power engineers of Rosseti Centre and Rosseti Centre and Volga Region plan to carry out more than four hundred activities to prevent electrical injuries for children and adolescents.
