Rosseti Centre - the managing organization of Rosseti Centre and Volga Region summed up the intermediate results of readiness for the heating period of 2019-2020. In all twenty regions of the service area of the electric grid company, preparations for winter are in strict accordance with the plan. At the moment, the readiness for the heating period is 98%.

By the onset of the cold weather season, more than 46.6 thousand km of overhead and cable power lines of all voltage classes, 11,826 transformer substations, 71 power transformers and 1,594 transformers of transformer substations were repaired, 5361 pole-rod insulators were replaced. To prevent blackouts due to trees falling onto wires and overlapping overgrowth, the company’s specialists cleared routes of overhead power lines in an area of 26,706 ha and expanded them by 768 ha.

To date, 168 mobile units have been formed at Rosseti Centre and Rosseti Centre and Volga Region, ready to travel 500 to 1,000 km to the place of electrical equipment fault, including to other regions. The crews are equipped with the necessary tools and devices, work clothes, a stock of financial resources and food rations.

The experience, which allows not to lose a minute in emergencies, is constantly gained by power engineers; for this, about 13,000 thousand or more different trainings are organized in the company’s subdivisions a year. This can be large-scale exercises with a wide range of tasks, in which a large number of operating personnel from all branches are involved, employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, transmission power grid companies, specialized vehicles are involved, or working out strictly defined skills. By September, about 9,329 trainings were conducted in the subdivisions of the grid company.

For the rapid restoration of energy supply, the company’s branches have backup sources of power supply. At the moment, the company has at its disposal 1,974 backup sources, 24 of which were acquired this year. The total backup capacity of the existing backup sources is 60.4 MW.

In preparation for the winter of 2019-2020, Rosseti Centre and Rosseti Centre and Volga Region renewed the fleet of auto and specialized vehicles by 170 units, the total number of vehicles of the Company and the managed Company is 15,049 units. A significant part of the fleet is now involved in clearing and expanding routes under overhead power lines, which is an integral part of the large-scale work to prevent technological violations.

Preparations for winter are in the final stages. By the end of September, all measures aimed at ensuring high-quality and reliable power supply to consumers during low temperatures and maximum loads will be fully implemented.

Winter was and remains a difficult period for both staff and power equipment of the electric grid company. Annually, power engineers carry out a large amount of work in preparing the electric grid complex for the period of maximum loads, which makes it possible to be prepared for any weather disasters, to ensure the stability of the functioning of the energy systems of the regions in the service area, and the reliability of power supply to the population, industrial enterprises and socially significant facilities.
