Acting First Deputy General Director of IDGC of Centre - the managing organization of IDGC of Centre and Volga Region Vitaly Akulichev held a meeting dedicated to the activities of the company’s Youth Council. The meeting, held in the form of video conferencing, was attended by heads of the Youth Councils of 20 branches of the Company. In the course of it, the main areas of activity of the youth councils were considered, including their role in the implementation of the tasks of digitalization of the electric grid complex.

During his speech, Vitaly Akulichev spoke about the Digital Transformation Program of IDGC of Centre and IDGC of Centre and Volga Region: about the technological prerequisites for creating a digitalization concept for the electric grid complex, goals and objectives, the three phases of the program and the activities of the first stage. According to him, the measures being implemented and the new technologies being introduced as part of the digital transformation in IDGC of Centre and IDGC of Centre and Volga Region will significantly improve the reliability of power supply, reduce commercial losses of electricity in electric grids and operating costs for maintaining the power grid.

One of the most important, at the first stage, is the project to create a unified grid control centre. “The need to develop new approaches to operational and technological and situational management dictates a number of challenges facing the power grid complex. Among them there are the tasks of increasing the reliability and efficiency of the operation of power facilities,” stressed Vitaly Akulichev. According to him, the creation of digital substations and digital Distribution Zones is an important element for improving the observability and automation of the grid.

Also in his speech, Vitaly Akulichev touched upon the topic of demand management aggregators - organizations that consolidate the ability of retail consumers to change their consumption and convert it into an opportunity not only to reduce electricity costs, but also to generate additional revenue by reducing the amount of power consumed during peak hours. In addition, he spoke about changes in electricity legislation related to the installation of smart metering devices and the development of renewable energy sources (RES).

At the end of the meeting, Vitaly Akulichev drew the attention of the young specialists to the need to be more actively involved in the process of implementing the concept of digital transformation, to come up with initiatives to form rational proposals, and also to think about new forms of exchanging best practices developed in each branch.
