IDGC of Centre’s delegation led by Igor Makovskiy visited facilities of the digital grid of Yantarenergo

26 April 2019

On Friday, 26 April, the delegation of IDGC of Centre - the managing organization of IDGC of Centre and Volga Region arrived in the Kaliningrad region. Representatives of 20 energy companies of the country visited facilities of Yantarenergo in order to exchange positive experience and learn about the achievements of Kaliningrad power engineers in the field of digitalization. During the one-day visit, a working meeting was held.

The results of the work of Yantarenergo within the framework of the Digital Transformation 2030 concept were presented by General Director of IDGC of Centre - the managing organization of IDGC of Centre and Volga Region and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Yantarenergo Igor Makovskiy.

Yantarenergo is the best regional company where the best practices and innovative solutions are implemented. The achievements of Yantarenergo are cited as an example at all federal sites, the head of IDGC of Centre noted at the meeting. “The company was the first in the country to begin work on a project to introduce a smart grid and achieved impressive results. The number and duration of technological violations in the grid have been minimized. Therefore, the experience of Kaliningrad power engineers will be useful for “big” Russia.”

The delegation visited the site of stylized power transmission poles for the World Cup. This is the first, but not the only stylized power facility in the Kaliningrad region. The 37-meter pole in the form of a football character not only reminds Kaliningradians and the city guests about the past world football championship in Russia, but is also part of the line that provides reliable power supply for the Khrabrovo International Airport and Zelenogradsky city district.

Then the guests visited the 110 kV substation “Romanovo”. This is the first facility constructed and commissioned in the framework of the execution of the instructions of the President of the Russian Federation to ensure the energy security of the Kaliningrad region. The substation is built on the digital principle and put into operation in 2017. Monitoring and control of the operation of its equipment occurs remotely from the main grid control centre (GCC). This facility of the digital grid was also visited by the delegation. The GCC is the “heart” of the power grid complex of the Kaliningrad region, from where the operational and technological management of all grids in the region occurs: from the lowest voltage class to the highest. The system in automatic mode allows to remotely locate fault and re-supply consumers remotely. Thus, the time of interruption of power supply to inhabitants of the region is minimized. Similar dispatch control centres were created in the branches of the company - City, Western and Eastern Electric Grids. The management of IDGC of Centre also got acquainted with the work of the first two. The best practices of the Kaliningrad power engineers will find application in the territory of other regions of the country.
