For two days Belgorod to become the main volleyball court of the country’s electric grid complex

On 28 March, a volleyball tournament was launched in Belgorod among teams of ROSSETI’s Group of Companies. 13 volleyball teams of subsidiary affiliates of the company, covering the entire territory of the country - from Siberia to Kaliningrad, are taking part in the sporting event. For two days they will compete for the possession of the main trophy - the Volleyball Cup of ROSSETI - and the right to be called the best volleyball team of the Russian electric grid complex.

The main volleyball court of the tournament for two days was the training and sports complex of Svetlana Khorkina. At the opening ceremony, Deputy General Director for HR Management and Organizational Design of IDGC of Centre noted the great uniting force of sports and the importance of such competitions for the formation of unity of thought, action and strong friendship in numerous teams of PJSC ROSSETI. Deputy General Director of IDGC of Centre - Belgorodenergo division director Sergey Demidov welcomed the athletes-power engineers on the Belgorod land and wished them success in the competition. “Power engineers love volleyball, cherish it, maintain and develop sports traditions, cultivate a healthy lifestyle, so we are especially honoured to host the best volleyball teams of the country’s power engineers. For the first time in Belgorod, athletes from various regions of Russia - from Siberia to Kaliningrad - will fight for victory. I would like to wish everybody successful performances and victories!” he stressed.

Head of the Department of Physical Culture and Sports of the Belgorod Region Oleg Serdyukov, welcoming the participants of the sports festival, noted that the start was preceded by the brilliant victory of the Volleyball Club “Belogorie”, which is the hallmark of Belgorod, in the European Challenge Cup. He stressed that this event will be a good incentive for successful performances of the power engineers at the volleyball tournament of the power grid complex.

The multiple-time champion of Russia, the multiple winner of the Russian Cup, the winner of the Champions League, the winner of the Olympic Games, the Honoured Master of Sports of Volleyball of the Russian Federation Alexander Kosarev became an honoured guest of the opening ceremony. He congratulated the participants and wished the athletes high achievements and satisfaction from the game.

The power engineers of FGC UES, IDGC of Siberia, IDGC of Urals, IDGC of Volga, IDGC of North Caucasus, Tyumenenergo, Yantarenergo, Lenenergo, Kubanenergo, MOESK, ROSSETI, IDGC of Centre and Volga Region and the team of the receiving party - IDGC of Centre are participating in the volleyball tournament. The team of IDGC of Centre is represented by volleyball players from the branches of Belgorodenergo, Bryanskenergo and Yarenergo, the team of IDGC of Centre and Volga Region is from Udmurtenergo.

The tournament will be held in two stages in accordance with the official FIVB volleyball rules. At the first - group stage - the teams, divided by drawing lots into 4 groups, will play three matches each to determine the participants of the quarterfinals. Two best teams from each group will enter the final round of the competition. They will compete for prizes and the main cup of the tournament. The closing of the tournament and the awarding of winners will be held on 29 March in the training and sports complex of Svetlana Khorkina.
