“We have to adjust Kostromaenergo’s investment activities based on objectives of digital transformation” - Igor Makovskiy

17 January 2019

On 16 January, General Director of IDGC of Centre - the managing organization of IDGC of Centre and Volga Region Igor Makovskiy worked in the Kostroma region.

The head of IDGC of Centre visited the 110 kV substation "Severnaya", the reconstruction of which is scheduled for 2019. Within its framework, power transformers will be replaced at the substation, which will improve the quality of electricity supply to more than 45 thousand residents and more than 50 socially significant facilities of the city of Kostroma. In addition, the reconstruction will provide the possibility of additional connection of new customers to power grids.

Also, during the trip, Igor Makovskiy inspected the work of City and Kostromsky Distribution Zones, where he checked the accounting of distribution of material values at the central warehouse of the Distribution Zones, inspected the repair and production bases, familiarized himself with the working conditions of the staff. At the dispatching board of City Distribution Zone, Igor Makovskiy discussed with the branch’s management a project for perspective reconstruction of the control point, from where the electricity supply to the city of Kostroma is controlled.

In the executive office of the branch “Kostromaenergo”, Igor Makovskiy inspected the premises for the location of the Unified Grid Control Centre (UGCC) of the branch, which combines the competences of managing the main and distribution grid of the region. Currently, the design and estimate documentation is being developed, and by the end of 2021 the Kostroma Grid Control Centre will begin its work in a new format. This will significantly improve the observability and controllability of power supply facilities. The head of the company also held an extended meeting with heads of the branch “Kostromaenergo” and chiefs of Distribution Zones. The main issue was the discussion of advanced innovative development of the power grid complex of the Kostroma region using digital technologies, based on the tasks set out in the concept of digital transformation approved by the Board of Directors of PJSC ROSSETI in December 2018.

“We have to adjust our investment activities based on the challenges of digital transformation. This task has been set by the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, in front of the country’s electric grid complex, and we will carry it out,” noted Igor Makovskiy.

As key priorities, Igor Makovskiy outlined the implementation in Kostromaenergo of the pilot project “Digital Distribution Zone” in Nerekhtsky district. “Digital Distribution Zone” is a pilot project of the branch. And we are going to carry out at full pace all the activities in this area until 2021, as a result of which a modern, maintenance-free, automated, remotely-controlled digital substation “Nerekhta” will be constructed, and the entire distribution grid of the district will be automated. And this grid will be managed by a single automated complex of operational and technological management through the Grid Control Centre, which will be built in the territory of the city of Kostroma,” the head of the company emphasized.
