Power engineers of IDGC of Centre in 2018 conducted about two thousand classes on electrical safety for children and adolescents

16 January 2019

IDGC of Centre summed up the work on prevention of children’s electrical injuries in 2018. Power engineers held it systematically, in active cooperation with regional and local authorities and relevant departments.

One of the important components of preventive work are classes on electrical safety for children and adolescents, which took place throughout the year in all branches of the company (it operates in 11 regions of the Central Federal District). In total, the power engineers organized about two thousand such classes. They were held in the format of thematic extracurricular hours in schools and teaching classes for older preschoolers in kindergartens. The employees of IDGC of Centre told the participants about the basic rules of electrical safety in the street and in everyday life, explained the meaning of warning signs, demonstrated the rules of first aid to the victim from effects of the electric current, familiarized them with electric grid facilities. To consolidate the material, they showed thematic videos to the children, handed out specially made posters, booklets, books of poems on electrical safety.

Before the holidays, during which children often spend a lot of time without adult supervision, preventive work in schools and kindergartens intensified. And in the summer, the activities moved to school and country camps and to city libraries. At the same time, their format was expanded to include games, quizzes and relay races. Thus, the employees of the branch “Kostromaenergo”, together with specialists of the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate and the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia, organized in four districts of the Kostroma region inter-agency routing games for schoolchildren, within which they became the “masters” of the “Electrosafety” stations. In the summer, similar events were held in Bryanskenergo and a number of other branches of the power company. In total, tens of thousands of children and adolescents took part in the electrical safety classes during 2018.

In October, in all regions of the operational responsibility of IDGC of Centre, the “Current to Lock” campaign was held, designed to draw the attention of citizens to open doors and locks of power facilities that were damaged by vandals. About 400 volunteering power engineers became its participants. For the action they selected energy facilities, located in places of mass presence of children and young people: school yards, private garden spaces, city parks. The volunteers placed informational stickers on them. The action covered about 200 settlements in the regions of the Central Federal District.
