General Director of IDGC of Centre - the managing organization of IDGC of Centre and Volga Region Igor Makovskiy continues his working trips to the regions of the company’s responsibility. During his visit to the Smolensk region, Igor Makovskiy checked the operation of the electric grid complex of the branch “Smolenskenergo”. The head of the company examined Smolensky, Smolensk City and Yartsevsky Distribution Zones, as well as the 110 kV feeding centre “Yartsevo - 1”. In the executive office of the branch, he inspected the work of the Customer Service Centre, and also got acquainted with the work of the Grid Control Centre and the Data Centre.
During the visit to Smolensk and Smolensk City Distribution Zones, the head of the company drew the attention of the branch’s management to the importance of maintaining a balance between performance and cost-effectiveness when implementing new equipment.
The next point of the visit was acquaintance with the work of the Data Centre of the Smolensk branch. This consolidation of computing resources and data storage facilities allows Smolenskenergo to reduce the total cost of ownership of the IT infrastructure due to the possibility of efficient use of technical means, for example, redistributing loads, as well as by reducing administrative costs.
Then, Igor Makovskiy held an extended meeting with the management of the branch “Smolenskenergo” and chiefs of Distribution Zones. One of the main issues was the discussion of production programs aimed at providing high-quality and reliable power supply to consumers of the Smolensk region, and plans for the long term. Igor Makovskiy noted that the power grid complex of the Smolensk region has good potential for development. Considering the challenges facing Smolenskenergo, the head of the company identified as key priorities constructing the grid on a digital basis, improving the manageability of grid infrastructure facilities, reliable operation of overhead power lines, a significant reduction in failure rates, and further reducing power losses in the region’s grids to achieve planned targets.
At the end of the visit, the head of the company visited the 110 kV feeding centre “Yartsevo - 1” and Yartsevsky Distribution Zone, noting the good quality of the state of the electrical equipment. Igor Makovskiy monitored the accuracy of the unloading data of the “Emergency” software with the operator’s operational log and stressed the importance of integrating smart metering devices with the control room of the Distribution Zone. This connection will allow to significantly improve the observability of power facilities and the dispatching personnel will receive more timely and high-quality information about the state of the grid. The head of the company also discussed with the branch’s management the need to select pilot Distribution Zones in the service area of Smolenskenergo, in which the grid will be developed on a digital basis.
