IDGC of Centre and IDGC of Centre and Volga Region sum up the results of 10 months, not slowing down the pace of work on prevention of children’s electrical injuries

2 November 2018

IDGC of Centre and IDGC of Centre and Volga Region summed up the results of work on prevention of children’s electrical injuries for 10 months of 2018. More than 120,000 children and adolescents took part in more than 3,000 electrical safety events organized by the energy companies.

Information work on the prevention of children’s electrical injuries is carried out in continuous mode. In the framework of established partnerships with educational institutions, in addition to extracurricular hours devoted to electrical safety, the power engineers organize mass thematic events for schoolchildren and conduct training sessions for older preschoolers. In the summer, classes are moved to sites of school and country camps or to city libraries, where employees of the energy companies together with participants of students’ construction crews hold events with children in the form of games, quizzes and relays. So, the route games on electrical safety, held in conjunction with representatives of regional offices of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia and the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia, have become traditional in the Kostroma region. In the framework of the All-Russian festival of energy efficiency “Together Brighter”, on the initiative of the power engineers, children’s holidays on electrical safety “Electricity is your friend” were held, as well as tours to power facilities for high school students. With the onset of the school year, classes on electrical safety are returned to schools and kindergartens, attracting teachers and parents to improve the electrical literacy. The power engineers hold seminars for teachers of schools in the regions where the companies operate. For the new school year, employees of the branch “Nizhnovenergo” transferred thematic stands on electrical safety to 45 schools in the Nizhny Novgorod region. In the Ivanovo region, an online parents’ meeting, dedicated to the safety of children, allowed to bring together more than 1,500 people for discussion. Employees of the executive office of IDGC of Centre and Volga Region regularly hold thematic classes on the basis of the city and regional libraries in Nizhny Novgorod, presenting books on electrical safety, released in collaboration with young authors. Every year, on the initiative of the energy companies, interregional Internet contests on the knowledge of electrical safety rules are held, in which more than 3,000 children from dozens of schools in the regions of IDGC of Centre and IDGC of Centre and Volga Region take part.

For events with children in 2018, the power engineers developed and manufactured more than 95,000 themed souvenirs, as well as printing products: magnetic bookmarks, colouring books, exercise books, reflective badges and stickers on covers that will remind the owners of electrical safety rules all the time. In addition, the thematic content is posted on the official channel of IDGC of Centre and Volga Region at the YOUTUBE video hosting site, where for 10 months of 2018 the electrical safety materials were viewed by users more than 23,000 times, and the social and educational projects “Electropatrol” and “Energolandia” - groups in “Vkontakte”, during the reporting period, were visited more than 86,000 times. Network information platforms are created for the exchange of information and communication on issues of electrical safe behavior.

In October, in all regions of the service area of IDGC of Centre and IDGC of Centre and Volga Region, the campaign “Current to lock” was held, designed to draw the attention of citizens to open doors and locks of power facilities that were damaged by vandals. More than 1,600 power engineers and more than 14,000 residents of the regions became participants of the campaign. In more than 1,700 settlements, volunteers visited more than 3,400 power facilities, placing information stickers on their doors. For the campaign those energy facilities were selected, which are located on the territory of mass gathering of children and young people: school yards, courtyards, city parks.

The power engineers of IDGC of Centre and IDGC of Centre and Volga Region are convinced that cooperation between not only industry specialists, but also representatives of the ministries responsible for security is important in matters of increasing the electrical literacy of the younger generation. In the framework of partnership agreements in a number of regions, videos about the rules of electrical safety are broadcast on screens of the public alert system of the Ministry of Emergency Situations "OXION".

Work on the prevention of electrical injuries to minors will continue uninterruptedly throughout the school year.
