General Director of IDGC of Centre Igor Makovskiy and Governor of the Belgorod region Yevgeny Savchenko discussed topical issues of the functioning and development of the regional power grid complex

11 October 2018

General Director of IDGC of Centre Igor Makovskiy during his working visit to the Belgorod region met with the head of the region Yevgeny Savchenko. The parties discussed the issues of strategic cooperation in the implementation of the investment program of IDGC of Centre, modernization and digitalization of the regional power grid complex. The readiness of the Belgorod branch of the company for the autumn-winter period was also discussed.

Igor Makovskiy drew attention to the timely preparation of Belgorodenergo for the winter, which is confirmed by the Certificate of readiness for the autumn-winter period received by the branch, and introduced Yevgeny Savchenko to the concept of implementing digital technologies and control systems for the electric grid complex of IDGC of Centre and IDGC of Centre and Volga Region, based on experience of JSC “Yantarenergo” for the implementation of the project “Digital Distribution Zone”. The project implementation allowed to ensure observability and controllability of the electric grid complex, to reduce electric energy losses and, as a result, to significantly increase the reliability and quality of electricity supply to consumers. Now this experience will be extended to the branches of IDGC of Centre and IDGC of Centre and Volga Region.

“Belgorodenergo already has experience in implementing automation and digitalization elements of the grid. All 35-110 kV substations are telemechanized, work is underway to implement smart metering of electricity and automation of the 6-10 kV grid with the possibility of automatic location of faulty sections of power lines and back up of consumers. The development of the digitalization project in the Belgorod region will be continued as part of a comprehensive program for implementing digital technologies of IDGC of Centre and IDGC of Centre and Volga Region,” stressed Igor Makovskiy, stating that Belgorodenergo was among the branches of IDGC of Centre, where the first "Digital Substation" projects will be implemented in 2018-2022. We are talking about the current 110 kV SS “Stroitel” in Yakovlevsky district of the Belgorod region, which will become fully digital after a comprehensive reconstruction.

Governor Yevgeny Savchenko supported the initiative for the innovative development of the regional grid complex, noting that the Belgorod region is always open for innovations. At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed readiness for long-term cooperation in improving the reliability of electricity supply to consumers, creating favourable conditions for the socio-economic development of the Belgorod region, as well as implementing the grid digitization projects in the region.
