General Director of IDGC of Centre - the managing organization of IDGC of Centre and Volga Region Igor Makovskiy visited the Belgorod branch of the company

11 October 2018

General Director of IDGC of Centre - the managing organization of IDGC of Centre and Volga Region Igor Makovskiy was on a two-day working visit to the Belgorod branch of the company. He got acquainted with the state and prospects of development of the electric grid complex, met with the branch’s staff, visited Distribution Zones and large substations in the region.

Igor Makovskiy got acquainted with the experience of operating high-voltage supply centres on the example of the 110 kV substations “Borisovka” and “Zozuly”. The substation “Zozuly” provides power supply to consumers and enterprises of Borisovsky district, the substation “Borisovka”, commissioned in 1985, feeds agricultural enterprises and more than 17.9 thousand residents of the region.

Deputy General Director of IDGC of Centre - Belgorodenergo division director Sergey Demidov explained that both facilities were telemechanized, equipped with sets of microprocessor relay protection and emergency control, which monitor all the substation performance indicators in real time and instantly react to occurrence of abnormal situations. Operational control is carried out remotely from the Grid Control Centre of the branch.

The functioning of the automated control systems of the grid complex was assessed by Igor Makovskiy with his visit to the Grid Control Centre and the regional dispatcher point of Borisovsky Distribution Zone. Here he examined the working conditions of the Belgorod power engineers, the equipping of the Distribution Zone with specialized vehicles, equipment, materials and spoke with the staff of the enterprise.

Igor Makovskiy noted that reliability and quality of power supply to consumers are indicators of the priority of the operation of the power grid complex. Integrated automation and digitalization of the electric grid will allow not only to respond to violations, but also to predict them. Currently, IDGC of Centre, in accordance with the requirements of PJSC Rosseti, has already begun developing a program for the full-scale implementation of digital technologies and control systems. “The transition to a highly reliable smart grid has already begun at Belgorodenergo. In the near future, we need to ensure 100% observability and controllability of 35-110 kV electric grids, automate the 6-10 kV distribution grid from which the maximum number of consumers is powered, implement multi-level smart metering in order to reach a qualitatively new level of electricity supply in the region,” emphasized Igor Makovskiy.

On the second day of the working visit, the head of the company visited Belgorodsky Distribution Zone and the largest substation of the regional centre - the 110 kV substation “Mayskaya”. The facility was constructed in 2009 to provide electricity to 26 thousand residents of the Belgorod agglomeration. This year, a pilot project was implemented to transfer the technological management of the feeding centre directly to the Kursk Transmission Control Centre, and a system for automated execution of switching sequences for equipment withdrawal for repair and commissioning was also implemented, which saves staff labour costs.

The outcome of the trip will be working out a long-term program for the development of the regional electric grid complex and the approval of plans for the near future.
