IDGC of Centre increased the share of innovative equipment in the electric grid complex of the Belgorod region

3 October 2018

This year, IDGC of Centre has increased the amount of financing of innovative projects implemented in the electric grid complex of the Belgorod region to 5% of the investment program, or 136.6 million rubles. More than 76% of the total volume of innovations consisted of projects aimed at increasing the level of automation and digitalization of the electric grid.

The share of innovative technologies in the electric grid complex of the region increases annually due to the use of modern digital equipment and own R&D of IDGC of Centre, entered in the register of innovative technical solutions of PJSC Rosseti. This year, two 10 kV overhead power lines from the substation (SS) “Sheino” in Korochansky district of the Belgorod region will be reconstructed and automated. The project is based on construction of smart grid using vacuum reclosers and controlled load switches, as well as use of poles made of composite material, the design of which was developed as part of the R&D of IDGC of Centre. In case of emergency situations, intelligent switching devices will instantly disconnect the faulty part of the grid and reserve most of consumers. Thus, not the whole line will turn off, but only a small section. The remaining consumers within a few seconds will be automatically resupplied with backup circuits.

According to the technology of the digital substation, the company reconstructs the 35 kV substation “Nikolskoye“ in Belgorodsky district. The project provides for replacement of oil switches with highly reliable vacuum reclosers of 35 kV, as well as reconstruction of equipment of closed switchgear of 10 kV. Digital technologies will be applied in systems of automation and control of substation equipment. The relay protection and automation devices will be replaced by modern software systems based on microprocessor components using IEC standards (digital substation) integrated with devices of the automated dispatch control system. It is planned to complete the work in 2019. Together with the reconstruction of the substation, automation is provided on the basis of reclosers of two 10 kV power lines with construction of smart grid.

A fully digital substation will appear on the basis of the existing 110 kV substation “Stroitel” in Yakovlevsky district as part of comprehensive reconstruction of the facility. At the moment, the development of design and estimate documentation on digitization of the supply centre is being completed with implementation of hardware and software to protect the new generation of 35-110 kV substations from electromagnetic influences using multi-ground wire lightning protection (R&D “Multi-ground wire lightning protection of the SS”).

In addition to technical measures aimed at ensuring the manageability and observability of power grid facilities, power transformers of 6-10 kV with reduced losses are widely used in the power grid complex of the region (the economic effect of their installation in 2018 will be about 372.27 thousand kWh, or 744.5 thousand rubles), highly reliable vertical-break disconnecting switches of 6-20 kV for outdoor installation, anchor steel polyhedral poles of 0.4 kV. In 2018, package transformer substations were installed on the highway “Belgorod-Pavlovsk” in Korochansky district, combined with charging stations for electric vehicles and a transformer overload monitoring system.

According to experts, the most effective is an integrated approach to the implementation of innovative projects through the use of automated systems and digital data transmission channels at construction sites, through which all information about operating parameters of a power facility, emergency processes, telemetry and tele-alarm systems will be sent to the operational control centre of dispatchers. This will increase the observability of technological processes, provide remote control of switching devices and relay protection and automation equipment, allow remote diagnostics and monitoring of technical condition of equipment and significantly reduce its operating and maintenance costs.
