IDGC of Centre carries out large-scale systematic work on prevention of children’s electric injuries. The Company implements a set of information and awareness-raising activities on electrical safety issues for children and adolescents in regions of its operational responsibility (11 subjects of the Central Federal District). On the eve of school holidays, when children spend most of the time without adult supervision, IDGC of Centre accelerates this activity.
One of the most effective areas of it are lessons of electrical safety, which the power company conducts in schools. They introduce pupils to rules of behaviour near power facilities and handling of electrical appliances in everyday life, explain to them importance of warning signs and safety posters installed on electrical equipment, demonstrate methods of providing first aid to a victim with electric shock. In total, on the eve of the summer, IDGC of Centre’s specialists organized more than a thousand such classes. Over 20 thousand children from more than five hundred educational institutions of Central Russia became their participants.
In total, in the course of 2018 IDGC of Centre plans to conduct about four thousand electrical safety lessons, in which about 70,000 schoolchildren are expected to take part.
The power engineers also use other formats and platforms for explanatory work. The Bryansk branch of IDGC of Centre organized the broadcast of videos on the prevention of children’s injuries in medical institutions in the Bryansk region. In cinemas of the region, before the beginning of films, winners of the regional competition for schoolchildren "Cartoons about electricity", conducted by Bryanskenergo in 2017, are shown.
Specialists of the Tver branch of the company conducted electrical safety lessons for children and parents on the "Safe Electricity" site, which they launched at the annual regional charity and volunteer festival "Square of Goodness" in May in Tver. And their colleagues from the branch "Yarenergo" together with the Department of Education of the Yaroslavl region organized a regional children’s creative contest "Safe Electricity", within the framework of which the children were invited to develop the topic of danger of electric current and to reflect the main principles of safe handling.
A large number of measures to prevent children’s electric injuries will be held by the power engineers on the Children’s Day. The branch "Bryanskenergo" on 1 June will organize a children’s holiday in Bryansk, which includes a drawing competition on asphalt and a quiz on the topic of electrical safety. The thematic holiday "Electricity is Your Friend" is organized by specialists of "Lipetskenergo". And workers of Belgorodenergo will hold a "fun" lesson with jugglers, games, animators and competitions for pupils of the Regional Social and Rehabilitation Centre for Children with Disabilities.
Preventive work will continue in the summer months. Specialists of IDGC of Centre’s branches will conduct thematic lessons, master classes, contests and games in suburban and school children’s camps. In a number of cases, events are organized in cooperation with representatives of regional authorities and law enforcement agencies. Thus, employees of the branch "Kostromaenergo" plan to conduct route safety games in school and country camps of their region jointly with the EMERCOM of Russia and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Kostroma region, the Kostroma regional branch of the All-Russian Voluntary Fire Society, the Federal State Institution "Rescue Service, Civil Defense and Emergencies" of the Kostroma region and the State Inspectorate for Small Boats. In total, Kostroma power engineers plan to hold about 20 such events.
