Employees of IDGC of Centre on the eve of Victory Day actively participate in the improvement of memorials and military graves of the Great Patriotic War

IDGC of Centre honours the feat of heroes who defeated fascism. The regions where the company operates were the site of fierce battles and key battlefields of the Great Patriotic War. Power engineers patronize military burial grounds, helping to carry out their improvement and maintain order and cleanliness, as well as provide electricity for under construction and reconstructed memorials and monuments. On the eve of the 73rd anniversary of the Great Victory, this work is being conducted within the framework of the historical and memorial project of IDGC of Centre "Light of Memory".

Specialists of the Lipetsk branch of the company equipped the interior lighting of the museum pavilion and reconstructed the outdoor lighting of the memorial complex "Terbunsky Boundary". The complex is located in Terbunsky district of the Lipetsk region, where in 1942-1943 one of the decisive battles of the Great Patriotic War unfolded. "Working in the museum "Terbunsky Boundary" helped us feel involvement in something important and meaningful. This is our contribution to the preservation for next generations of memory of our self-sacrificing grandfathers and fathers who liberated the Motherland from fascism," stressed Alexey Nosov, the chief of Terbunsky Distribution Zone of the branch "Lipetskenergo".

Employees of "Belgorodenergo" provided the lighting of the reconstructed monument to the commander of the 2nd Battalion of Infantry Regiment 1032 of Infantry Division 293, Commander of the Order of the Red Banner, Senior Lieutenant Vladimir Bashkatov, who died as a hero 12 June 1942 in the battle for liberation of Shebekinsky district from the Nazis. To do this, the power engineers laid 60 metres of a cable power line and mounted on the adjacent territory poles with energy-saving lamps and searchlights. The opening of the renovated memorial will take place on the eve of 9 May with participation of veterans of the Great Patriotic War. In addition, the Belgorod power engineers took part in the construction of decorative illumination and landscaping of the monument to Soviet soldiers who died during the liberation of the village of Aydar in Rovensky district.

Over 30 monuments and burial places on the eve of Victory Day were improved by employees of the branch "Kurskenergo". Among them there is a monument to the legendary pilot, thrice Hero of the Soviet Union Ivan Kozhedub in Medvensky district, where during the war there was a military airfield of the 240th Fighter Regiment of the 2nd Air Army. Ans also the installed in Ponyrovsky district monument to deminers of the 1st Guards Engineer Brigade who died during the Battle of Kursk, and the mass grave of soldiers of the 303rd Infantry Division and the 849th Infantry Regiment, who liberated in 1943 Oboyansky district. Employees of the branch "Orelenergo" carried out work at 26 memorials. Among them there is the Power Engineers’ Alley on the site of death of a Soviet military commander, Hero of the Soviet Union, Major-General Leonty Gurtiev in the village of Platonovo in Orelsky district and mass graves of soldiers in Verkhovsky, Glazunovsky, Dolzhansky, Kolpnyansky, Krasnozorensky and Livensky districts of the Orel region.

A number of brotherly graves were brought to order by their colleagues from the branch "Tverenergo" - such events took place in all Distribution Zones. In particular, members of the Youth Council of Tverenergo held a clean-up event at the memorial complex in the village of Shulgino of Kalininsky district, where soldiers of the 357th Infantry Division of the 1190th Infantry Regiment, the 151st Communications Battalion and the 220th Combat Engineer Battalion are buried in a mass grave. "It is very important that young people respect the memory of the older generation. We are sincerely grateful to Tverenergo’s youth council for their initiative," stressed Evgeny Chemodurov, Deputy Head of the Kalininsky District Municipality Administration. And representatives of the Youth Council of Smolenskenergo for the second year in succession initiated the improvement of the territory of the first burial place of the Hero of the Soviet Union, a partisan-demolisher Vladimir Kurilenko in the village of Vyistavka of Demidovsky district in the Smolensk region.

Employees of the Tambov branch of IDGC patronize the memorial to soldiers who died during the war in the village of Kovylka. There are installed busts of soldiers from the front - natives of these places: the only one among residents of the village of Kovylka full Cavalier of the Order of Glory Mikhail Abramov and Hero of the Soviet Union Alexander Surov. The monument was built on charitable means, with the active assistance of Tambovenergo’s employees. In anticipation of the holiday, they, together with representatives of the Youth Council, with the support of the administration of the village council of Kovylka and pupils of the Kovylskaya school tidied adjacent to the monument area, updated inscription on the monument, covering the stele and busts, sawed branches of old trees and planted 30 ornamental shrubs.

There are also sponsored memorials with other branches of IDGC of Centre. Employees of the branch "Voronezhenergo" on the eve of the holiday held a clean-up event at the mass grave on Karnatovski Street in Voronezh, where 247 soldiers of the Red Army who died in battles for the city and died from wounds in a local hospital were buried. And employees of the branch "Bryanskenergo" improved the military burial in Dubrovsky district of the Bryansk region, where the remains of the soldiers who died here in 1941 and 1943 are buried, and the memorial complex in Klintsovsky district, located at the burial ground of the partisan families shot by fascists in May 1942. "The preservation of memory of the feat of the people during the Great Patriotic War is an important task. We hold clean-up events at the memorial complex in Golubeya and at the monument in Klintsy every year as a tribute to the victims of the holy war," says Igor Smirnov, a member of the Youth Council, a leading specialist of the integrated management systems department of Bryanskenergo.

Employees of the Yaroslavl branch of IDGC of Centre carried out work in the city of Lyubim to improve the commemorative stele installed in honour of a native of these places, Hero of the Soviet Union, a commander of the 233rd assault aviation division, Colonel Vladimir Smirnov, who died in 1943 during a combat mission on the Kursk Bulge. And in Yaroslavl, they put in order the stele to power engineers, who fell during the Great Patriotic War. On 8 May, the branch "Yarenergo" will hold a traditional solemn meeting and festive events here.
