Over one hundred crews of power engineers of IDGC of Centre eliminate consequences of a cyclone in the Tver region

On 21 April, a powerful cyclone hit a number of regions of the Central Federal District, as a result of which a great damage was caused to the power grid complex, including in the Tver region. As a result of the storm, power lines of various voltage classes were damaged, settlements in Bologovsky, Zapadnodvinsky, Zubtsovsky, Kalininsky, Kimrsky, Nelidovsky, Ostashkovsky, Penovsky, Rzhevsky, Selizharovsky, Spirovsky, Staritsky, Torzhoksky, Toropetsky, Udomelsky districts were de-energized.

Strong wind with gusts up to 23 metres per second pulled trees, resulting in boughs and trunks fell on power lines, which led to wire breaks in all places. 109 emergency repair crews of IDGC of Centre - Tverenergo division are conducting a set of necessary activities for quick reconnection of consumers. In addition, 52 crews of distribution networks and 6 crews of power lines were sent to the Tver region, provided with necessary vehicles and backup power sources for emergency repairs from the Smolensk, Belgorod, Voronezh, Bryansk, Kostroma, Lipetsk, Orel and Yaroslavl regions. In cooperation with units of the EMERCOM of Russia and representatives of the district administrations, clearing of ROWs and cutting of fallen trees on wires is being carried out.

In the near future, the Tver region and some regions of the Central Federal District will again be impacted by an unfavourable atmospheric front, accompanied by a strong gusty wind that can provoke a new wave of outages. All the forces of IDGC of Centre - Tverenergo division have been used to eliminate the consequences of the disaster and prevent subsequent outages.

A crisis management centre has been set up at Tverenergo to eliminate the effects of bad weather.
