IDGC of Centre and IDGC of Centre and Volga Region prepare for the fire-hazardous period

IDGC of Centre and IDGC of Centre and Volga Region continue preparation for the fire-hazardous period. Power engineers are implementing in regions of their service area (20 subjects of the Russian Federation) a plan of mandatory and additional measures to ensure reliable and stable operation of the power grid complex, increase the level of fire protection of power facilities and prevent contingencies. Their main part should be completed by 10 May 2018.

Employees of specialized departments of IDGC of Centre and IDGC of Centre and Volga Region carry out constant monitoring of the fire situation. This work is conducted in close cooperation with territorial units of the EMERCOM of Russia and Roshydromet, state authorities and local self-governments. Fire-technical commissions of structural subdivisions of branches of the companies conduct unscheduled checks of the fire safety status of facilities assigned to them and inspection of power equipment. Particular attention is paid to maintenance of outdoor and indoor switchgears, oil storages, auxiliary buildings and structures, workshops, as well as substations and security zones of overhead power lines. Facilities are also checked for fire-fighting equipment.

In addition, in order to prevent fires, work is underway to clear and expand ROWs of overhead power lines (Conductors). A fire-breaking line is made around 35-110 kV substations that do not have a continuous concrete fence and located in areas of fire hazardous areas, and digging around wooden poles, which may be in the zone of possible ground fires, is produced.

A large amount of work is also envisaged in the preparation for the fire-hazardous period of the companies’ employees. Specialists conduct targeted briefings for production personnel on fire safety rules and actions in the event of a fire. In all branches of IDGC of Centre and IDGC of Centre and Volga Region, joint training and exercises with participation of the executive authorities of the subjects of the Russian Federation, territorial divisions of the EMERCOM of Russia, local authorities, representatives of other organizations and subjects of the electric power industry are planned to develop cooperation in liquidation of emergencies with threat of power failure in period of high temperatures. Based on their results, joint action plans are developed in the event of such situations.

In particular, last week the staff training for prevention and liquidation of emergencies caused by natural fires was held in the Kursk region. Its organizers, the management of the regional department of the EMERCOM of Russia, highly assessed the level of fire preparation of the Kursk branch of IDGC of Centre.

Employees of the Volovsky Distribution Zone of IDGC of Centre and Volga Region - Tulenergo division, who took part in the fire-fighting training the day before, where they practiced real actions for extinguishing spontaneous fires jointly with representatives of the EMERCOM, the fire and rescue garrison, the district authorities, enterprises and institutions.

In total, IDGC of Centre and IDGC of Centre and Volga Region can involve in the liquidation of consequences of technological violations, related to fires, 2,817 emergency restoration crews consisting of more than 14 thousand people and more than five thousand automobile and specialized vehicles.

In addition, the power engineers conduct an active outreach work with the population, recommending citizens to exercise extreme caution in the fire-hazardous period, and to prevent the occurrence of emergency incidents.

The full implementation of fire protection measures significantly reduces the risk of fires and economic damage from them. Therefore, IDGC of Centre and IDGC of Centre and Volga Region take all possible measures to minimize the likelihood of fire at power facilities and ensure reliable and uninterrupted power supply to consumers.
