Voronezhenergo took energy facilities of Novousmansky district under special control in connection with the flood

9 April 2018

Specialists of IDGC of Centre - Voronezhenergo division mobilized forces and means in Novousmansky district of the Voronezh region to ensure reliable power supply to consumers during the flood period.

In the district, all scheduled work on electrical equipment was stopped, except for urgent ones aimed at ensuring reliable power supply to consumers. The readiness of the emergency reserve of materials in case of emergency recovery work was checked, as well as options for delivery of vehicles, materials and equipment in the event of liquidation of possible failures.

Power engineers in the round-the-clock mode monitor the condition of power facilities, as well as check foundations of overhead power lines for the purpose of timely detection and prevention of underflooding and erosion of soil. As of 9 April, 7 transformer substations (TS) of 10/0.4 kV, as well as about 100 poles of various voltage classes in several settlements - Rozhdestvenskaya Khava, Babyakovo, the village of Bezbozhnik and the district centre of Novaya Usman. The power equipment is operating in normal mode, there are no consumers switched off due to high water.

In case of rising water to critical levels, the energy company is ready to de-energize energy facilities located in the flooded area to eliminate threat of possible electric shock to residents, and to prevent breakdown of electrical installations.

To ensure continuous monitoring of the functioning of the power grid Voronezhenergo operates the flood commission under the chairmanship of First Deputy Director - Chief Engineer of the branch. The administration of Novousmansky district, as well as all services involved in the liquidation of the emergency situation, established close cooperation and exchange of operational information. To assist the authorities in evacuating residents from flooded areas, specialized off-road vehicles of Novousmansky, as well as Voronezhsky Distribution Zones can be used.

Operating personnel set up posts to monitor the development of the flood situation, possible places for formation of ice jams, increased water levels in water bodies and the state of electrical installations during the flood. Systematic monitoring of the flood situation in the areas of possible flooding of electric grid facilities is provided.

During the spring flood Voronezhenergo set up the round-the-clock duty of first responding mobile crews and specialized vehicles in the whole service area. In total, the branch can attract 179 crews consisting of 989 people and 513 vehicles to eliminate technological violations caused by the flood. For temporary power supply to consumers, in the event of emergency recovery work, 102 standby power supply sources with a total capacity of more than 2.3 MW can be used.

Consumers can get all the necessary information on electricity supply by calling the toll-free 24-hour direct line of power engineers at 8 800-50-50-115 or short number 13-50 (for fixed phones).
