The unconditional victory of power engineers over the elements - "Rosseti" confidently passed the test of the snowfall of the century

5 February 2018

Specialists of Rosseti Group eliminated all technological disruptions in the work of electric grid equipment in the Central Federal District in less than 24 hours, setting a record for the speed of complete restoration of power supply in abnormal weather conditions.

Such high results were achieved thanks to the implementation of innovations at the end of last year in the training of personnel - about 400 practical trainings were set up, including several dozens of unscheduled ones, and new approaches to first responding and restoration operations.

On the weekend of 3-4 February, the capital region and a number of neighbouring regions were in the grip of an arctic cyclone, which caused the largest snowfall and icy rain for more than a hundred years. According to weather forecasters, for only two days there was the monthly rainfall rate.

Despite the most difficult meteorological conditions, the Rosseti power grid worked these days without serious disruptions, which was the result of the practice of improving and optimizing the technological process launched in the autumn of 2017, as well as a set of measures to improve the efficiency of managing the grid infrastructure.

The practice of using self-supporting insulated wire in forest tracts in Moscow and the Moscow region was completely justified itself, where in recent years, under similar weather conditions, massive disconnections of consumers were observed.

Director General of the company "Rosseti" Pavel Livinsky personally supervised the crisis management centre, coordinated the work of more than 400 first responding crews in the composition of more than 1.5 thousand people. They used about 500 specialized vehicles and about 200 reserve power supply sources, from which all socially important facilities were fed.

Pavel Livinsky, at the end of the elimination of technological violations, thanked the staff and managers in the field for prompt reaction and highly professional actions, and also demanded to pay close attention to individual requests of consumers, who might have had breaks of 0.4 kV networks.
