Specialists of Smolenskenergo restore the power supply disturbed by bad weather

Crews of IDGC of Centre - Smolenskenergo division are restoring power supply to consumers in the Smolensk region, disrupted as a result of heavy snowfall and snow sticking to tree branches, due to what they fall from the depth of the forest to wires.

At the moment, technological failures are fixed at power grid facilities in the eastern and south-eastern districts of the region.

Smolenskenergo, already since 3 February, after receiving an unfavourable weather forecast, has introduced a high availability mode of operation, and from today a special mode of operation has been in place, involving full mobilization of forces and means and carrying out work around the clock. At the moment, 78 crews (247 people directly working on line faults) and 96 vehicles are involved in emergency repairs. If necessary, the number of crews will be increased, and also the forces and means from other branches of IDGC of Centre and IDGC of Centre and Volga Region and contract organizations can be quickly transferred to help.

Five electric power supply sources are used to supply electricity to the affected areas.

Currently in the region there is a blizzard, occasionally heavy snow, accompanied by a wind with gusts up to 15-20 m/s. The technical unit of the branch in a constant mode conducts the control of the situation in the region.
