Power engineers of IDGC of Centre and IDGC of Centre and Volga Region mobilized before the forecasted deterioration of weather

30 November 2017

Sharp deterioration of weather conditions is expected on 1 December and in the night of 2 December in the greater part of the Central Federal District: heavy snow, wet snow and rain, sticking of wet snow, icing, blizzard at wind of 20-23 m/s. According to the weather forecasters, the bad weather will in one way or another affect all 11 regions of the service area of IDGC of Centre and six regions, where IDGC of Centre and Volga Region operates. Power engineers of both companies have been mobilized and are ready to eliminate consequences of possible technological violations.

In the regions, where the deterioration of weather conditions is expected, high availability modes are being introduced. Special control over the operation of power facilities has been established. An information exchange has been organized with territorial subdivisions of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and executive authorities. First responding and repair personnel have been mobilized. All crews are equipped with necessary tools, adaptations, overalls, provided with off-road specialized vehicles, and prepared for round-the-clock operation in any conditions.

If necessary, the high availability mode will be promptly introduced in other branches. At present, in case of weather deterioration, a set of preventive measures is being implemented there. Continuous monitoring of the meteorological situation is being carried out, control over facilities of the electric grid infrastructure has also been strengthened and clear information interaction with the Ministry of Emergency Situations, regional and local authorities has been ensured.

If necessary, 2,817 crews consisting of more than 14,000 people, 5,148 automobile and specialized vehicles, as well as resources of contractors can be involved in all branches of IDGC of Centre and IDGC of Centre and Volga Region to eliminate technological violations. Also at their disposal there are about 1,500 stand-by sources of electricity supply with a total installed capacity of about 49 MW, which can be used for temporary supply of power, primarily to socially important facilities in the regions.
